Hello! My name is Tracy and I live in Iowa City, Iowa. I met my fiance on an actresses' fan page on Facebook. We became instant friends and have been communicating back and forth since March. After talking every day, I asked her to 'officialliy' be my girlfriend July 28th, 2013. She accepted. So we began Skyping each other and just getting to know one another. I knew almost immediately that this girl is someone special. She's unlike anyone I've met, or been interested in dating. It became clear to me right away that she has a heart of gold. The biggest thing I've noticed about her is she's an extremely loyal person. In September I began thinking about how our relationship is what I want. I proposed to her around the middle of September and she said, "YES!". I am so happy. I want her to come to the U.S and live with me....make me the happiest woman on this planet. I've met her parents and sibling and even an aunt on Skype. They all seem very friendly to me and she told me they were so happy for her when she shared the news that we are engage. I'm excited to begin the process of applying for a K-1 Visa and getting her here to the States. I will go visit her in June, 2014. I can't wait to meet her in person. She's my world now and I don't want to live without her. I'm sharing our story because it is a unique on but it's honest and true. I've found the one I've been waiting my whole life for. And she says the same to me. We are so in love and ecstatic that my country, the United States of America will allow us to marry. I'm anxious to get to know some other same sex couples on this site that could give us some helpful hints. I want to fill out the paperwork myself but started working on it and am already stumped. I hope everyone here is having a good day. And, send me a message so we can all get to know each other. Good day everyone! I happy to have this site so I don't feel so alone. :D

Sounds like you haven't met in person yet? One of the K1 visa requirements is that you must have met in person within 2 years of sending in the petition. You also have to provide

evidence of doing so (photos, boarding passes, visa stamps, etc..) Until you've done this there's not really anything you can do.

I'd recommend reading through the K1 Visa Guide by clicking the 'guides' link above. My fiance and I are currently at the end of the process waiting for my interview

on January 16th. One thing I wish I had done, was followed this guide more diligently as we made a couple mistakes that could have been avoided.

when you meet, remember to keep all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps and take loads of pictures together and with her family and friends if possible. to save up on money, print or bring with you the forms she needs sign for the petition.

here is the guide:

if anything confuses you, search through VJ. if you really cant find the answer feel free to ask us :) goodluck!

if your relationship is really genuine you don have to worry.

just like me, we are same sex couple and yesterday i had my interview and i got approved. i am going to be with my baby early in January :)

so before filing the petition you have to carefully read all the relating posts and information on this site and on USCIS web site

so... good luck to you guys and happy holidays

you won't have any issue with a k1 for same sex, you will have problems because you have never met in real life. One of the requirements of the visa is that you have met in person within 2 years prior to filing.

Hi all! I am just waiting for some documents from Manila before I send the application for K1 visa for my same-sex partner who lives in the Philippines. I met him in 2006 when I was visiting Manila and been "on" for a year. Although he's a good guy, I had to give up the relationship sometime 2007 simply because the prospect of bringing him to the US was non-existent that time. A few years and a few failed relationships after, I got convinced that he is the right guy for me but I had no way to get in touch with him again. Then last November 2013, I put a comment on a picture of my cousin in Facebook and one of those who posted a comment happened to have the same last name as my ex boyfriend! I sent a private message to the girl and true enough, my ex is her uncle! I got a hold of my man and we were so happy to be in touch with each other again. However, he already have 2 kids with a woman whom he is not married. But because of the kids and for financial constraints, they live together in the house of the woman's parents. I flew to Manila a few days after that and our relationship got rekindled. I spent 10 days with him and I came back to the US more convinced that he is the right man for me. He said yes when I proposed to bring him with me to America through marriage and I have no problem even if he has kids. I already booked for another flight this February to go to Manila and bring him to Singapore for Valentines Day. The mother of his kids does not have a problem if I marry my ex although she is very sad with the prospect of being left on her own. My fiance' told her about his past relationship with me before they moved in with her parents. I've put the names of the 2 children in the K1 application for their eventual immigration here when they get older (currently they are 5 and 3 years old). My question is: will it present as a problem the fact that my fiance' is still living with his kids and their mother? We intend to be forthcoming and transparent about it if ever he will be asked by the consular officer (and I am sure about it!). Please share your thoughts about this matter. Thank you.

I got. My approval notice stating our k1 application was approved by any chance what's the next step for us thank you

I assume you mean your I-129F petition was approved. You have not put in an application for the K-1 visa yet. That is the part that comes next, after an approved petition.
