Hey everyone, I need some help deciphering what happened.

My husband when to an infopass this morning. We are Jan 2013 filers.. still waiting on NOA2. My husband explained how nothing has happened on our case, and all the confusing items we have been told over the course of our VJ so far. The officer then pulled out a form, and had my husband fill it out (just the usual stuff.. receipt #, names, birth dates, addresses, etc). The officer then told him he was putting in a Request for an Officer for our case.

Has anyone out there had the same thing? Is there really a request for this? Or are they just doing another general Request for Information on our case? We've already had 3 of those, which did absolutely nothing. If anyone could shed some light on this I would be really appreciative! :)

6 Mar 2013 -- I130 transferred to Orlando local field office (which started the whole nightmare)

Mar 2013 to October 2013 no one would tell us where our case was or what was happening. I suspected the whole time it was just sitting in a corner somewhere in the Orlando field office. I was pretty much right.

October 2013 - get congressman involved. Congressman asks USCIS repeatedly about our case but they won't even tell them anything.

31 Jan 2014- finally get NOA2!!!! (we think the nightmare is over!)

Our case was not sent from the Orlando field office as it should have been. The nightmare continues. We kept calling NVC and asking if they received our case, and they always said "NO" and that we had to wait 90 business days for it to be received. We called USCIS during this time and they kept telling us it had been sent. After the 90 days of agonizing frustration, NVC then started telling us we had to wait 120 business days. I got our congressman involved again, and they told the congressman it was sitting at the Orlando office this whole time (just as I thought it was!).

Yes all that was is a service request. I gather your petition wasn't at local office but at the NBC still?

So he fills that out and in abt 60 days you will get a response like before. Have you got a letter you been transferred yet?

It's at the Orlando field office. It's been sitting there since May, untouched. At the last infopass, the person there told him that Orlando didn't process the I-130 and that it was going to be transferred to Jacksonville (that was at the end of July). Since then, we have received conflicting info about what is going on - A tier 2 said it had been transferred, another said they put in a transfer request, etc. All #######. So hubby made the appointment and went today.. and that was all that happened. The officer told him that of course Orlando processes I-130 forms! I figured it was the same stupid ####### they have done every time. We are never going to get our NOA2 :(

Just stay on them dont give up. A friend of mine filed in January her petition sitting and sitting at local office she did infopass at 6 months at 7 months nothing. Finally September, Infopass, they were like wow our bad your file been sitting here since June because we need to schedule a petitioner interview. OMG 3 months sitting and all they had to do was send out an interview date. So they finally did, she was interviewed mid-October got approved on the spot. Petition now making its way (not there yet its been 3 weeks) to NVC.

Like I told her STAY ON THE LOCAL OFFICE. DONT LET GO YOUR GRIP.

The fella he spoke to, behind the glass,

does not work in the I-130 Adjudication Unit. That group is buried, waaaaaaaaaaay on the other side of the building.

I would not have left without talking to a supervisor, who in turn got the I-130 Adjudication Unit Supervisor to look up the case, check it's place in queue, and see when it was to be assigned to an adjudicator.

Your spouse can find this out, if he wants to go in on yet another infopass appointment.

Remember - the folk behind the glass know nothing about the stand-alone I-130 adjudication process, and you need to move up the chain, and sideways, to get the right person to 'come down' to the customer interaction area.

Takes some finangling, but in my case, was soooooooo worth it.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks for all the replies! I am working on my hubby to get him to make another infopass and to contact the congressman. He read somewhere that a congressman should only be contacted after 1 year, and he doesn't want to do anything that would ruin the chances of our case being processed. He is totally cautious, and I am saying we need to do whatever we can. The infopass is really hard for him to do, since it means taking time off of work and having to drive hours to get there. Argh.

We obviously clash on this quite a bit..

My husband works for the federal gov't. He is ex-USAF. He was almost nonchalant about the petition and it annoyed me at the time. But during a visit he told me that if 6 months had passed without any information he would have been doing everything possible to figure out what's going on. Until that point, he was willing to let someone do their job. You guys are past the 6 month point. I don't care how much they say "oh we're processing Oct 2012..." I'm Oct 2012 and I've been in the USA since June. I call bologna! Contacting a congressman's liaison won't hurt the petition, it tells someone that they're getting checked up on and should do their job. It's like your boss walking in when you've just checked your phone. Doesn't matter if it was just for the time, you get that feeling you should hurry up. ;)
