Avoid unnecessary RFEs! (same sex marriage I-129F petitions)

In our letters of intent to marry I did state we would marry in a state permissible by law. I was not specific. I am still waiting to hear back, no rfe no noa2 yet. We'll see what happens.

We did exactly the same thing, but still no RFE nor NOA2. Fingers crossed, I'll update you as soon as we hear from USCIS!

we received our RFE hard copy, they are asking from us in which state we are planing to celebrate our marriage and they want copy of the law of the relevant state where it says same sex marriage is legal

we will send everything tomorrow

wow!!!!! apparently that´s going to be for everyone.... now I am getting nervous... anyone is getting married in NYC? does anyone know where I can find this "marriage laws" for NY? Thanks!!!

Wow, it does seem like USCIS really wants same-sex filers to include the state and applicable same-sex marriage laws to be included in our package. Is there a way we could appeal to USCIS to make sure this information is listed as part of the requirement for same-sex K-1 application?

When we filed in July, we included in our intent letter that we plan on marrying in California, but did not include any legal reference. We got our NOA2 with no RFE. That's odd that others are being asked to do so. Why can't USCIS just keep a list of states and check each letter against that?!

hey guys, just wanted to share our experience. we filed back in the beginning of august, received our NOA2 yesterday, after 55days, without any RFEs. we used the exact template for the letter of intent found on this website. we did not specifically state where we would get married. my fiance is from TN, but lives in CA now. that's what we put down as the address. maybe that clarified things enough.

so not stating the state in which you are planning to get married is not an automated way to a RFE.

alright, all the best to you guys. now on to the waiting game. transfer CSC - NVC. i heard, transfer times are at an all time high. might take longer to reach the nvc then it took the petition to be approved.

Congratulations to all NOA2 recipients!!! I think getting RFE depends on petioner's state of residence. Which makes sense because we obviously cannot marry in Texas, which is where I'm from, and they need to make sure our intent is to marry in a state where it is allowed. I actually got the information requested for my RFE in the mail yesterday. I sent it through Express Mail. My only concern now is that I did not waive signature and the return address was a P.O. Box. I tracked it online and says the post office received package and it's ready for pickup. I'm wondering it the Texas Service Center has some sort of arrangement with USPS to pick up mail randomly at the post office.
