Approved! I just got out of the US Embassy here in Manila and everything went really well. Thank you VJers and dwheels for all the tips and advices. =)

DW!! I got a call from my husband yesterday and almost fell out of my chair. He returned to the US Interest Section in Havana as instructed. By chance/by a fluke he got his ID collected and was able to enter and pick up the visa that was issued last week.

Didn't know this but when DOS website says: "Processing wait time also does not include the time required to return the passport to applicants, by either courier services or the local mail system." They are not kidding.

My husband talked to people that have been waiting to get into the Havana office to pick up their visa since last July. He also recognized a couple of folks that were approved with him that were told to come back in 15 days to pick up their visa. Crazy!

Cleared this hurdle. Now waiting to see if they cut him loose at work...

Hi everyone, i'm a new VJ member...posting for the first time! Our Noa2 arrived finally some last week and we'r currently waiting for VNC to receive and start work..... Fingers crossed.. Paitiently waiting>>>

Please i need to make an enquiry on Abuja consulate in Nigeria for K1 Visa......What's the experience like? I noticed that most VJ members for K1 visa are using Lagos consulate.

so do i transfer from Abuja to Lagos or what?....please assist.. Thanks in advance!

Abuja doesn't do K1 interviews only Lagos does. So your casefile will go directly to Lagos.

I would strongly recommend you go to the Nigeria portal and read up on the interview reviews to get a feel how things go and questions asked. http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Nigeria

Congratulations on the NOA2. Now stay on NVC and keep calling to get your Case# it could take up to 8 weeks to arrive so be patient.

Once you get case#, email lagosiv@state.gov and they will send you instructions to how to pay Visa fee and do medical and get your forms.

The forms you could actually do now and have all ready. You should be preparing your Affidavit of support (I-134) and other forms now.

Has anyone received their visa package back? Ali got his and it says something about not receiving his green card for six months? Is that right or is it a typo? I thought you received it within 3-6 weeks!

We can't afford for him to not work for that long! Does the visa in his passport act as a temporary gc? Does he have to wait for the real thing to start applying? Ahhhhhhh.

Yes you can use the stamp in passport. The biggest thing is the SS card and that should come within 3 to 5 weeks. If not there by 3 weeks just walk on down to SS office.

Does the visa in his passport act as a temporary gc?

To expand on what Dwheels said, the "stamp in the passport" is nothing more than a standard entry stamp that is placed on the page next to the visa itself. It is the combination of the visa and the entry stamp that allows the visa to act as a temporary green card until the actual card is in-hand. The temporary green card is valid for one year.

Agreed! Personally for us, it was the days leading up to the interview that were nerve wracking. The actual interview is much easier than expected.
