Instructions:

Here is the exact email reply from US Embassy to me:

Thank you for your email. As of today, we have not received your physical case file yet. Generally, appointments for CR1 petitions are scheduled by the National Visa Center. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified. The NVC will then forward the case file to U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh for further processing.

For some reasons, they did not schedule any IR-1/CR-1 Interview all this time. Here is the exact email reply I received from US Embassy:

The NVC schedules you an interview when they have slots from the embassy in which to do so.


Contacting the embassy before an interview has been scheduled, unless you've expedited your case through the NVC, will not yield you any results.

Just got an email reply from US Embassy in Phnom Penh. Again, they are blaming NVC. Every time I call NVC they clearly tell me they have nothing to do with scheduling! What do I do? Here is the exact copy of email I just received about 30 minutes ago.

We appreciate your desire to schedule an Immigrant Visas interview appointment for Ms. XXX. Scheduling of Immigrant Visa interviews is done in coordination with the National Visa Center (NVC). The petitioner will be notified by the NVC once the appointment date and time have been set. You, therefore, will need to check with the NVC on the time frame for when the interview may be scheduled. Should you wish to request expedited processing of your case at this time, you will need to contact the NVC directly.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Scary isn't it saw on news and opened a thread in case others not on this thread saw it. I also added here didn't see you did too.

Hikergirl how r u doing? how is adjustment.

So far so good.

Went this morning to the SSA to apply for our SSNs. Prepped for it the same as I did for the visa interview so it was quick and painless. Two people ahead of us got sent away because they didn’t bring their supporting documentation with them. Good thing for VJ because I knew that for some people the SAVE database has the names as two first names and not first and middle because the guy was having an issue with a name mismatch - so I told him that for some reason our boarding passes will have us as Jane Elizabeth as a first name instead of first and middle and ta-da it worked. We can head back tomorrow morning to get the numbers.

So much paperwork still but soon I’ll be done with that for a bit and can just enjoy living life.

It is very nice to be here with hubby and he is so appreciative of us being here. Feels like a bit of a fairy tale to be honest. I hope that you find your fairy tale!

I see your sig says your SSN "Did not come automatically in the mail"... Did you tick the box for it on the visa application? Just wondering since we ticked that box for my wife and it'll be good to know in advance that she might still have to apply for a card >.<

I see your sig says your SSN "Did not come automatically in the mail"... Did you tick the box for it on the visa application? Just wondering since we ticked that box for my wife and it'll be good to know in advance that she might still have to apply for a card >.<

I did check the box and it didn't come automatically. It seems to be hit or miss.

Did u finally get your case complete? I thought u had it than u reported u were checked list so i am confused abt u.

And the window of scheduling I believe yes is closed. Probably not until last few days of this month or first week of next month will anything start up again. Accept if your country has slots still available.

Got an open interview so im sooooooooooooo Happy Thank you Dweels76 after my expedite was approved it only took 5 days to get an open interview ill in Dominican Republic last week of august so ill go to the consulate on the 28th

Yep we checked the box on both applications. (CR-1 and CR-2)

Luckily we came prepared to the SSA office and it made things go a lot smoother and quicker.

Thanks for the info guys... I'm a USC but grew up in Canada and I got my SSN just by checking a box on my passport application, so I assumed this would work just as smoothly as that did. Maybe I was just lucky that it worked for me :)

Good to know in advance that some people have issues...

Really? u believe the scheduling window maybe closed for most people? I am sad to hear that. It may be the case since no interviews have been scheduled since 7/30. Today is the 5th of the month, could this early window closure have something to do with September being the end of the fiscal year for the US government, and visas are finished? I never had a good feeling about september because of this reason.

Now for my specific case, i am the only person here dealing with the (Accra -Ghana) embassy. Based on your past knowledge, can you give me some insights about how long it generally takes for folks to get inteviews in Ghana? It appears to me that the (Accra -Ghana) may be a very embassy too. Although i dont think we can compare it to the likes of Canada, India, Philipines, etc.
