Good Morning VJ Fam! star_smile.gif

As I come down to the last two weeks before sending in my petition I need a bit of guidance.

I have all the other evidence prepared: Passport stamps, itinerary's & boarding passes, letters of intent, pics...and I am down to preparing chats and phone records.

I am so confused because I do not know how much to send in....I know that for the interview a lot more is needed....

I need a benchmark....how have some members prepared this piece?

Can I send some from the first and the last 90 days of the relationship?

Send a little from each month? We would hat every day on BBM....the chats are endless...

Any help will be greatly appreciated...All I am waiting on is my BC and I just need to go take my passport pics and that's it!!!! I can't believe its almost that time.....THANKS so much!

I only sent in about 5 pages worth of chats-ranging throughout the year. They are secondary evidence. The adjudicator wants to see real proof like airline tickets, boarding passes, passport stamps, etc. Anyone can forge chats so in my opinion, they aren't that important. But that's only my opinion, still waiting for my NOA2. Also, I've never heard of anyone being asked for more evidence of 'chats'.

You should send some evidence from when your relationship first started and from your ongoing relationship now... but try to focus mainly on your last two years of meeting which is in within the required time. I sent in a lot of evidence including pictures, screenshots of posts on Facebook that had dates on them, airline tickets, boarding passes, ect., But I wanted to make sure that I had enough evidence to also take to the interview. I wanted to make sure that I had enough variety to bring to the interview as well as sending enough to send in with the petition. Take a deep breath and take it easy because I know this can be a very overwhelming process! :)

Chat logs are not evidence of meeting in person within the past two years, the passport stamps, boarding passes, receipts and of course photos together are. Makes sure to include a few pictures with the petition.

Chat logs are evidence of an ongoing relationship, which is what is required at the embassy.... later.

I wanted to make sure that I had enough variety to bring to the interview as well as sending enough to send in with the petition.

OP, the above is crucial, and so is this: Do not (do NOT!) listen to anyone who's dealing with an easier embassy, or to anyone who focuses only on the USCIS petition part of things. Santo Domingo is not to be taken lightly. Front-load your petition thoroughly and sensibly, and include a solid, reasonable amount of information that you want the consular officer to see. Go atop any VJ page and click "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy." Read everything there, starting with the most recent, and pay particular attention to the worst stories. Leave nothing to chance.

Two hints, the first of which applies to everybody:

1. When you include copies or logs of chats, e-mails, etc., be very certain indeed that in none of them do you refer to yourselves as "husband" or "wife." Yes, you know and we here know that it's cute and sweet and romantic and in good fun, but a consular officer will use that to refuse the visa and return your petition for denial.

2. The petitioner's presence is required during the beneficiary's interview in Santo Domingo. Allocate the funds now to be there, whenever the eventual interview will be scheduled.

I wasn't sure how much to send also so I sent ALL of it. The Skype chat log is an upper body workout.

What I did was copy all the chat to MS Word, used an 8 point font, minimal line spacing, as small of margins that I could (had to leave some room at the top for the holes) and double sided printed it. I did this for Skype and LINE chat.

I then created separate phone call logs for Skype and Yahoo Messenger calls.

Lastly I created email logs that showed the to/from addresses, date, subject and first line of the email by taking screenshots of my GMail account. I created a new folder in Gmail, moved all our emails to that folder and then took screenshots of all the emails in the folder.

I really didn't want to print and include that much paper but I thought it was better to include too much than too little. I have never heard of a K1 petition being denied because too much evidence was supplied.

FYI, as others have said this is secondary evidence so I put it at the very end of my I-129 under a section called 'Proof of Ongoing Relationship'. The Primary evidence such as Visa stamps, boarding passes, hotel and POS receipts and pictures I put under a section called 'Proof of Meeting'.

You are also advised to use Acco top loading binders, that is on the USCIS website. Be aware that these are hard to find. I could not find them in Seattle so I ordered them from Amazon and that caused a little delay.

If you have any other questions about the I-129 format or contents VJ is a great resource or message me. I was able to file it myself with the information I found on this site and it was approved a couple months ago.

Good Luck!

Yeah, chat logs are just 'secondary' evidence. I included a few pages with different dates but there is no need to send countless months and years of this. I know a lot of people want to be 'complete' with there apps but in my opinion if I were the person doing the initial inspection can you imagine having a stack of papers a foot or 2 thick and having to dig through it to find what was 'really' needed? I wouldn't doubt if it caused unnecessary delays at times!

Evidence of seeing each other within 2 years and the supporting docs are what really counts!! Good luck!

For our petition I sent supporting documents for the 2 trips we took together. This consisted of her's and my boarding passes and passport/visa stamps. Also pictures from the trips (at least 3 ea), and if we did anything like see a movie a copy of both our stubs. One hotel we stayed at required we wear bracelets, and another we had a rental agreement so I threw in copies of those. Then I put in our first facebook chat (which I limited to 5 pages), our more recent VK chat (print screen w/date and time), our most recent skype (print screen w/picture of her engagement ring), and finally Skype log and phone logs. Also her and her friend both wrote me a letter while we were on the first trip together before I left, and since it was on the hotel letterhead I added that as well. Everything I put in must have been solid enough that there was no RFE.

Best of luck to you brother, and just remember to include the check and have it be the first thing they see.

Edit:

Many documents I highlighted important facts so that the person working on the case could easily find them. I also included a post-it note on almost each document explaining if it belonged to me or her, and about it or things I felt they should know.

Well it seems I ran out of time to edit, but I was going to say that I've read a few stories where people had their petitions returned because of the check. Either they forgot to put it in, or it wasn't the first thing the sorting center saw. I believe they just look for that check and the initial I-129F form and send it off to where it belongs.

I would say after you've sent it in to start focusing on the future together and forget it's even out there, as this first part is the longest wait. If you can plan another trip to see her, other then the one T-Bone says is required, I would try to do it. Now is also the time for you to build your evidence for the Embassy Interview, though you being there is a sure sign of the relationship :)
