Hello,

I called USCIS today and they've told me that there is a backlog for Advance Parole going back to March 19, 2012 !! This is also what is on the USCIS website. How can this be that it's over a year backlogged? Why has everyone told me 90 days to receive advance parole? Anyone know what is going on??

Your help is appreciated.

Whatever you heard is 100% wrong. No idea here it came from, but backlog is not a thing for AP. It will come in 90 days. It is routinely approved, one button push, nothing to do. It might even be automatic.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

I applied after March 19, 2012, and I can tell you I got my AP a looooong time ago. Even better, lots of people applied in 2013 and got it already.

2012 sounds completely wrong. March 19th, 2013 makes more sense as it's 90 days from now.

Thank you very much everyone. My 90 days will be this Monday, and still no word. They seem to be twiddling their thumbs until the 90th day comes. I think it's strange since I've already received my Green Card Interview appointment. USCIS needs to fix their website as it still says March 2012 for AP.

Um, there are many different uses for the I-131 and also many different category of people that get AP. Whatever you are looking at it doesn't apply to family-based I-485s.

I just looked at it, and you're right that it is really confusing. It does say I-131 Advance Parole. But whatever it is, it's wrong.

The USCIS website has never been a bastion of accuracy, and this is but only another example of it. ph34r.png

Believe it when you have the actual hardcopy document/card in your possession.

Actually, it's not that strange. If you have an AOS interview scheduled already, you may never have your AP approved. As the AP is a temporary travel document while the AOS is pending, sometimes the USCIS deny it as anyways, a decision will be made on your AOS soon. It happens also that they approve the AP right before the interview, and some people got their AP just a few days before the interview (pretty useless).

If you get your green card, there's no need for an AP anymore.

When is your interview?

Hi didopage,

My interview is scheduled for July 15. I am also wondering how soon after the interview the actual green card could be sent.

Sorry I don't speak Spanish, but I understand what you're asking. The Advance Parole allows you to leave the USA while your i-485 is pending, but that does not mean that the customs officer MUST allow you into the USA. Customs officers always have discretion to grant entry. However, if you have no reason to be inadmissible, there should be no problem.
