What's the difference between an "interview" v/s an Infopass??

Spoke with a Tier 2 personnel and she mentioned that as of today, my case status shows up as "pending interview." I asked her if a date was scheduled and she said I will have to make an "infopass" appointment if i wanted more information on the case...huh2.gifunsure.pnghuh.png

I have no idea if I should rather wait for the field office to send me an interview date ....or should i just make an infopass..?? (I wouldn't be able to take time off work twice)

On the other hand....Who gets scheduled for an interview?? Anything in particular about my application that might cause for an interview??

I almost dont want to believe what i was told by the tier 2 rep since it will not be the first time i've been given incorrect information...

A few weeks back i contacted the senator and they sent me a letter saying my petition was scheduled for "review" on June 17th..So far no updates on the case...and my case # doesn't show up online either...

The interview of course is held to determine if your visa will be granted. An Info Pass meeting provides info about the case in person at a USCIS office. You will not be give info about an interview date during an Info Pass meeting.

It seems your case is in line to be assigned an interview date. If you have submitted the required docs there is no reason to think they will not set the date when they have room in the schedule.

Since you don't have NOA2 yet, it seems like your case is being scheduled for an interview in the US with the petitioner. They do this when they suspect fraud. Is there anything odd about your case?

Has the beneficiary been in the US before? Is there a large age difference between the parties? Multiple previous marriages? Are you a born US citizen or an immigrant yourself?

I wouldn't term it random. As far as I know they do it based on submission timing.

Harpa Timsah noticed that you don't show an NOA 2 approval. I missed that. Do you have it?

Do you know the procedure and timing of submitting the P 3 docs? The embassies I am familiar with set the date only after submission of the P 3 but yours may differ.

I have made a mistake here. Your case doesn't require the P 3 docs I think. I think I have misunderstood your original question.

If you don't have NOA 2 then I don't understand what you need to know. Please forgive my mistake in understanding.

since local offices have been adjudicating I-130s , since 15 Aug 2012,

there's been some things to note:

1. variances in local offices for adjudication process

2. MORE local interviews because they can

3. NOID instead of RFEs issued

4. Misrouting to NRC after approval

5. Long transfer times after approval

6. Stuff for bonafide marriage evidence may or may not make it to NVC.

so - when you go in on an infopass, be prepared ! Have a list of questions about your casefile, and ask for the I-130 Adjudication Unit Supervisor when yer at the glass window.

When yer there for an interview, bring copies of everything and all of your bonafide marriage evidence.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
