Hi all,

SO flying out to the States this Saturday, with my packet at the ready.

My question is....Which part of immigration do I get in line for?

Is it the "Visitors" section, or the "U.S. Citizen" section- coz technically I am neither! haha!

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

There is usually someone directing traffic, ask them. Sometimes there is a greencard holder/ residents line, if so go there, If not, I;d go to whichever is shorter- they will pass you on to secondary anyways.

Last time I went through the States they actually had a whole separate line for "new immigrants". I think it just depends on the size of the airport and frequency of that sort of event for them. Just ask someone on the way to the queues - they might even skip you straight to an officer. :)

thnks for all the responses guys! Very helpful!

I'm just gunna ask someone when I arrive there- shouldn't be a problem! One other question though...does it take longer than usual to get through immigration? As in, do you have to get extra things stamped etc.

Reason I ask is that I have a 2 hour connection time...through ATLANTA! haha!

Thanks.

Yes, it definitely takes a lot of time.

Good luck on your 2 hours.

You could miss your flight depending on the wait.

As in how long roughly, not factoring in the time waiting in line....

I can't answer that.

It varies completely randomly.

For us canadians, I've seen some people wait 2.5 hours when there was NO line just because the person didn't know how to process a visa packet.

I'm betting airports are a bit more educated in the subject though.

I suggest you read through POE reviews:

http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php?poe=Atlanta

That's for atlanta as that's how you made it seem you were landing.

If that's not the case, then choose the correct one.

Read the Atlanta POE reviews yes.gif

The actual processing does not take long at all. However what varies is the time you have to wait. When I arrived I think maybe it was lunchtime, so there was only one person working and they first had to deal with something else.

They gave him his medical forms back at the entrance?

They gave him a sealed envelope that we weren't allowed to open, but send directly with our AOS packet after we got married. It was labeled "medical" so I am assuming that it was his medical results for his chest x-rays and his vaccination forms that we had to submit with his I-485.

As for the time period it takes to get through the immigration process at the airport.. I think he was sort of lucky when it came to that, He was the only one in that particular line and within 20-25 minutes he was through with everything. We went through the K-1 process though so I'm not sure how different the paper work is from the CR-1.
