Something that's under the $10 range to compliment the Thanksgiving dinner (we're having turkey and ham).

I like Gewurtztraminer (sp) but it's a bit too sweet.

Something a litte more mild.

...oh and something I can find at Trader Joe's or Costco. :P

I really like a Pinot Grigio. Although some brands are (a lot) better than others. Ernest & Julio's Turning Leaf is a nice one.

If that's a little too dry, Blossom Hill's Californian white wine (the one with the blue label, I think it's just called 'Californian White' rather than a name) it's a quite fruity, citrus-tasting medium.

You can definitely buy E&J in the usuall US supermarket, not sure about Blossom Hill as I've only ever seen it in the UK.

Enjoy your dinner! :)

Actually for a 'store bought' wine Turning Leaf is quite nice. Give it a try.

If your interested in a red wine, then a Shiraz or a Shiraz blend (my personal favorite is "Memsie" from Water Wheel Vineyard of Australia) or possibly a Pinot Noir. They both go well with turkey.

I like Cabernet and Turning leaf is a good wine for the price.

Yellow Tail has a great range of wines..

Best White Wine Options

Sauvignon Blanc – a crisp white wine that is noted for its earthy, herbaceous flavors – a prime candidate specifically for turkey and herb-filled stuffing.

Viognier – a white wine with low levels of acidity and characterized by light floral flavors often surrounded by delicate touches of peaches and pears.

Riesling – a white wine that may either be bone dry or fairly sweet, excellent with any dishes that may have a bit of spice to them.

Gewurztraminer– another white wine that may present itself dry or sweet, depending on the style. This wine has a zestiness that allows it to pair nicely with side dishes that may have a bit more kick to them, but also settles well with a variety of dessert options.

Top Red Wine Options

Pinot Noir – this red wine is a traditional favorite for Thanksgiving. It is easy going enough to complement just about any flavor you can throw at it.

Zinfandel – a red wine that ups the intensity from a Pinot Noir, but still maintains a balancing effect on many traditional side dishes. This would be a great pick for those looking for a heartier wine with deeper flavors.

Syrah/Shiraz – another red wine that picks up the intensity and flavor, yet graciously handles the cornucopia of flavors in a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The peppery notes will accent a flavorful helping of stuffing as well as both the white and dark turkey meats.

Beaujolais Nouveau - a light, fruity red wine that goes very well with turkey and all of the fixings. This wine is released from France on the third Thursday of November, just in time to highlight your Thanksgiving feast!

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Have you checked out the Berringer line of wines? A good one is the Zinfandel (my personal favourite). Also, local wineries have some really good ones too, and might have some good deals right about this time of the year. :)

Anything in the Blossom Hill range - wether you're a red or white fan - is excellent. They have a white with a blue label (sorry it's been a year since I had it) that was really nice and I dont' even drink white wine. But it had a full taste to it. Very nice, a bit fruity but not too sweet.

Another good brand, especially if you like reds anyone, is Luna De Luna. MMMM Excellent wine and gorgeous bottles that compliment the table. That's about $8.00 or so in most grocery stores.

Tends to make the holiday much more enjoyable too.
