how to dress for interview??

OK, my fiancee is concerned about how to dress for the interview. I am sure casual is just fine, jeans and t-shirt would be acceptable, right?

or do we need to try to impress to show some sort of effort on our part?

Since it is Guayaquil where I have been told it is like walking into a freezer, I was planning on wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes, a button up long sleeve shirt and a jacket. That's OK?

My fiancee wants to buy new shoes and dress more professionally for the interview.

What does everyone else think?

by the way, we got our case number and as soon as she gets her birth certificate to complete the needed items for the interview packet we will call to schedule the interview. Which brings up a second question, anyone know what the time frames are for Guayaquil, Ecuador for getting an interview scheduled? If I call Friday do you think it could be in 2 weeks, or closer to 2 months?

It wouldn't hurt to dress up a bit. Smart casual attire will do or anything that you would normally wear on a job interview.

I'm sure that what you were going to wear (tennis shoes, jeans, button up shirt) will be just fine. I'd say, don't show up looking like a bum or hungover college kid in sweatpants...I mean what do they care?

If I were her, I would wear a proper formal attire for interview. Slacks, blazer with collar and a pair of pointed formal shoes. :) Ya know, appearance could help. :)

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

In Guayaquil, attire doesn't matter -- the only thing that helps is when the petitioner is there for the FIRST interview.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

TBone is right. But we still dressed like we were going to a semi-formal meeting. No jeans, no sneakers, no hats. But people in Ecuador do whatever they want...

Thanks for the info guys! I was trying to figure out my next move for a job contract. I finish this one in 2 weeks and most places want a minimum of 3 months but I found a place willing to do an 8 week contract. Hopefully I will be ready to go back to Ecuador then.

Yeah in Guayaquil it seems to dress up means nice jeans and a button up shirt. Maybe I will wear some sort of comfy slacks and a button up long sleeve shirt and of course a jacket due to what both of you have said about the freezing temperatures!

When I get back we will probably go somewhere like DePratti and find something nice but casual for my fiancee for the interview. I do not think she needs to wear heels though, that might be over the top for Guayaquil.

Good news about the 8-week contract, dude. Regarding attire, it would be a lot cheaper for you to buy something for her here and take it to her there. Just a suggestion.

hey, what do you mean by "FIRST" interview?

I was counting on 1 interview and stay for a few weeks hoping to have everything finalized and then we would fly back to the US together.

OK, I got all the info from GYE and have all the information required. I was instructed to set up the interview and right now I just paid for it online and the interview dates available for us on their online scheduling calendar is as early as Wednesday the 22nd at 10am. There are no appointments available listed past June 27th.

Am I doing something wrong? I mean is it really possible to go next week for the interview?
