New fees since Feb 1st!!??

Have anyone heard about an additional fee of $165 at the time of interview..??

i've read about it, but it's not at the interview, it's paid online.

You don't have to pay for it at the interview,

you don't have to pay for it prior to the interview

you don't have to pay for it after the interview

you don't have to pay for it AFTER arriving in the USA

but.

if you do want a green card issued, and not rely on the I-551 thingie in yer passport ?

Is best to pay the 165 online prior to POE date, online.

well the first two options, you definitely cannot do because your visa has to be approved before you even start thinking about the fee. We were going to pay for ours after POE but after considering how slow USCIS could be, we paid for it same day he picked up his visa. So hopefully they 'review' the fee early enough and not delay the GC.

We paid ours 2 days before our POE and you can see by my signature that the green cards arrived quite quickly thereafter. After you pay it online you will be sent an I-797 form (just the same as our NOA forms) and there will be a new receipt number on there that you can track on the USCIS site. The tracking on the site will include updates along the way showing that the payment is complete, when the request for the card to be created occurrs, when the card ships to you including a tracking number for USPS. Then you'll be able to track the card's progress in the mail using that number.

what i been told is you need to pay that 165$ to get the Permanent resident card/ status!
