A quick question, did a quick search too but couldn't find anything about this.

How much detail do you need for question 18 on the I-129F, "Describe the circumstances under which you met." Is a couple of sentences okay, I'm thinking of something like the following...

"We met while she was working at XXXX on MMM/YYYY, we chatted, exchanged phone numbers, texted for a few days then met up for coffee. We then started dating and chatting via email and text."

As you can see I'm not a very wordy person, but if they need more I guess I could add more fluff.

Just a couple sentences is what they are looking for. You have the right idea!

Most people would use a Continuation/Supplimental Sheet for this question. The Sample I-129F here on VJ also suggests that most do it this way. That being said, my Continuation Sheet explaining how we met was about 3 paragraphs. I explained about how we met and also how we saw each other within the 2 year requirement. My reasoning was more information was better than not enough. Hope this helps your decision.

They really only want a couple of sentences on that question. The rest of it would go in the 2 letters of intent from each person.

I was wondering about the same thing!

Also, I thought the letter of intent was just stating that you are willing and able to marry that person within the 90 days after they enter into the US? I wasn't aware you provided details of your meeting in that letter?

Also, for question 18 in the area underneath would you just say something like 'see attachment', or what is the proper thing to put when you attach a sheet?

Yes you would put "see attachment" if you cant fit your couple sentences on the line. On the attachment you would write the question number and the question down followed by the answer.

You don't want your intent letter to sound to mechanical! we are humans after all. Fell in love short para then intent to marry on entry etc.

We kept it short and simple. In question 18 we wrote three sentences, basically just saying that we met online in June 2010, plus the dates that we met in real life. We did not use an attachment sheet. As for the letter of intent, we wrote a VERY short paragraph about how our relationship has developed over the years, plus the usual phrase stating that we are willing and free to marry each other.

You don't, lots of folks make up requirements that don't exist.

I don't know why would anybody write a whole dissertation. The question clearly asks for circumstances under which the petitioner and the beneficiary MET. Not a detailed story of their relationship.

Actually this question has been asked many times.

What you have is perfect. They dont need details of your relationship.

The letters of intent also do not need details, followthe examples and you will be fine. Doesnt matter if it sounds 'mechanical' because it is all they need and it works!

USCIS is not interested in your relationship at all. They are only interested that you have met physically within the past 2 years and that you are both willing and able to marry. That is all they need and that's all the question is asking.

It's the consulate's job to figure out if you have a valid relationship, so all of that info should only be needed at your interview if they ask you how you met.
