Does Signature on DS-230 have to be in black inc?

I was reading through Stupid RFE thread and someone got RFE for having signed the document with blue pen. Is this true? Do all the forms have to be signed in black pen?

08/31/2012 - Received email from USCIS saying the package is accepted
09/11/2012 - Received a letter saying case transferred Lee's Summit, MO
02/15/2013 - Received an email saying case is approved
02/22/2013 - I-130 NOA2 hard copy received

Most government forms asks to "print clearly and sign in BLACK INK". So I always use black ink to print & sign.

The only exception is where the form specifically asks me to use "blue ink". Otherwise I always use black ink.

Agreed that an RFE for signing in blue ink doesn't sound right, it was probably something else.

Personally I signed EVERYTHING in blue ink and had no problems at any stage of my processes (K1, AOS or ROC).

I don't think the Ink color would make or break your petition! I used blue ink pen with no problem. I have read somewhere on this thread that it is preferable to sign with BLUE ink pen

Yah, I've gotten mixed answer for this question from few threads where I posted it. I just freaked out when I read in "The Stupid RFE Thread" that someone got RFE for using blue ink.

But like you, several VJ members have also posted that they did not have any issues using blue pen to sign forms. At this point, I plan to go ahead and use the forms with blue ink. If it becomes RFE, I'll deal with it then.

The RFE wasn't because the signature was in blue in, the RFE was because the didn't believe it was an original signature (most likely thought it was a scanned and printed copy made to look original.

There is nothing wrong with signing in blue. i have never seen anyone get an RFE that stated "for signing in blue ink instead of black" so do no fret :)
