Couples who had filed their AOS and did not get an interview were mostly K-1 holders whose petition was processed at Vermont..

Did you moved to another state before or while your AOS was pending?

Before. I lived in TX first, then moved to IA (as was always our intent). We filed at IA because at that time moving during the process was extremely risky. That's why my AOS was filed late.

Ah, that's why you did not get an interview eventhough your K-1 was processed at CSC..

Iowa is one of the states whos applications for K-1 are processed in Vermont.. But maybe i'm wrong..

Yes you're wrong. My file was transferred to CSC and approved there, according to my paperwork that says "transferred to California Service Center". This was in 2010 though.

I do not think who gets or does not get an interview for AOS has anything at all to do with where the I-129F petition was processed. There are no applications for K-1 visas at any service center in the US. Adjudicating the I-129F petitions is not related to adjudicating the I-485 applications.

Though it makes no difference, I will just go ahead and tell you that my I-129F petition for my husband(then fiance) was processed at Vermont. We had an interview for AOS. It lasted about 5 minutes and he was approved on the spot.

They used to transfer AOS cases to the CSC and the ones that transferred there usually had their applications approved without interview. They also used to be approved fairly quickly then, in about 3 to 4 months or so. People used to want to be transferred and have no interview. Then it slowed down, and then it back logged and slowed down so badly that no one wanted to be transferred to the CSC and the USCIS stopped transferring cases there because it was so back logged and slow. Now the applications can either be approved without interview at the NBC, or sent to your local office for an interview there. The wait for being approved without interview is still a long one, even at the NBC, and people now hope theirs will be sent to their local office for an interview so they get their green card approval faster.

I just thought that if you happened to lived/ filed your AOS where VSC has jurisdiction, you will unlikely to have an interview..

I am not sure about that, as I was adjudicated at CSC. I believe that those who have a K-1 are more likely to have their AOS approved at NBC versus at a local office as both are at 7 months or more to adjudicate the GC. Those who file an AOS with a I-130 are more likely to have their interview and be processed at the local field office within 2-3 months.
