On Saturday we got NOA1 for the I-485 and for the EAD, along with the biometrics appointment letter. I guess the NOA1 for AP will be here today or tomorrow, maybe? They gave him a biometrics appointment on March 4. Does trying to get it taken care of by walking in speed up the approval of the EAD? I'm trying to figure out why so many of you are attempting that. The field office is right in our city, so it's no problem going there.

I have no idea if it speeds up the process or not. For us, it's about convenience. We live 2.5 hours (3 hours with traffic) from the nearest ASC. And on the date they gave us, I'm at a summit for my division and there's no way for my husband to get there on his own. So we're trying a walk-in tomorrow and/or Thursday rather than get re-scheduled for a later appointment date that could again potentially conflict with my work schedule.

If you live nearby the office, it can't hurt to try a walk-in to get it over and done with.

I recieved all of my NOA1s for AOS, AP and EAD. But there was a slight problem in that my name was written correctly on receipt notice of I-485 and AP letter, but it was written a bit wrongly on my NOA1 of EAD. There was a slight difference, like my first name is SYED HAMZA and last name is MEHDI, and don't have any middle name. So my name was printed like "SYED HAMZA H. MEHDI" . So I have made the service request to USCIS and they said we forwarded your request to the local office, it shall be addressed within next 14 days. Did do the right thing or not ?

I did this, because I didn't want to get carried with this problem !
