so...lemme tell you all a little story....

i go to a miscarriage support group on Monday nights at a church about 40 minutes from my house. so Monday, as usual, i went straight from work. i was in a hurry, and so i decided I'd swing through taco bell drive through before the meeting. i pulled into the drive through at 6:47, so i was relieved that i had a few minutes until i had to be there at 7:00. well, the drive through was extremely slow...and one of the type that has a curb all around it, so once you're in line and someone pulls in behind you, you're stuck. i sat there getting more and more frustrated as i saw i was going to be late...and finally i paid with my debit card and the girl gave me my order, which of course was wrong. she had charged me for a burrito supreme and i ordered a bean burrito...so she kept my card, had to re-ring it somehow, and then gave me back $1.09. i grabbed the cash and took off like a crazy person trying to make it to my meeting.

Tuesday morning, i went to vote. when i pulled out my ID, i noticed that my debit card was missing. backtracking, i realized that most likely, the girl had kept it at taco bell the night before. so after i finished voting, i called information to get the phone number of this taco bell. unfortunately, they gave me some kid's phone number instead...so i ended up having to drive all the way back out there to get my card.

well, when i got there, they looked and they couldn't find my card anywhere. i searched in my car really thoroughly, and didn't find it, either. i called my bank, and they told me that it would take about 10 business days to get a new card, blah blah blah...and $10 to replace it.

finally, as a last ditch effort, i drove over to the church and lo, and behold...in the trash can outside, i found my taco bell sack from Monday night...and inside....my debit card.

and all this before 10 am.

Wow! Sounds like you had a rough morning. I've misplaced my debit card once or twice. I see it happen all the time when people misplace their cards. (I work for a bank) It's nothing to feel stupid over. I don't ever feel stupid over misplacing something until my husband gets upset that I forget everything. Oh well. Look at the bright side, the bag was still there and you got your card back. Some one was looking out for you. Hope you have a better week.

I'm still looking for my debit card as I am typing this! I pulled it out at home but don't rememberwhere I put it. At least it is at home...I think... . I certainly understand blondeness.

i limit the amount i have on me, so yes, that would be a better option than having my account drained

it would be very hard for someone to use your debit card... they would have to know the pin # to use it.... or am I wrong?

you are absolutely correct.

plus, you can call the bank and have it deactivated. cash, on the other hand, is gone. either it is lost in the trash forever or picked up and spent by someone. eirther way, you lost the cash.

well, we are in agreement there. I pay mostly via my cc. get cash back and never pay interest for the mini mothly loans.
