Will it matter? We are like "only" friends before he came here... however... theres already affection to each other before we even met... That time... I am quite scared to love him without meeting him.... so in May....when we came here.... after few days of being with him... I fall in love with him... and him too.. even ask me if I want to marry him... when he got to US... after two weeks..... he filed a petition because we want to be together forever... Do yoh guys think it will b questioned? And do you think its the reason why until now we havent got the aproval? I am just wondering. This waiting is really stressing me out. He dont want to go back if my visa is not yet aproved... he wants me to be with him when he come back to US...

We have a huge age gap too.like 25 years?..it doesnt really matter to ne at all because he looks like 30's... and first time I saw hin on skype, I already like him...

You think the consulate will raise brows if Ill tell them how much I love this man?

Thanks guys

For the initial petition (before the consulate) all they require is that you have met. You do not have to be engaged, you do not have to show them any relationship proof, you do not have to prove that you even talked to each other.

For the consulate, it shouldn't matter how long you knew each other as long as you provide enough documentation and convince them that you have a real relationship. They won't know how long you knew each other before he proposed unless you tell them. If they do not ask, do not volunteer any information. If they do ask, then just tell them the truth.

they also need to prove that they have an ongoing relationship, merely meeting once and having no other proof is a recipe for disaster. And yes, they do have to be engaged. A k-1 visa is a petition for her to come here and marry within 90 days.

You have to prove ongoing relationship at the consulate stage, not the initial petition. The initial petition requires a letter of intent and proof of meeting within the last 2 years. That's it.

You can front-load the petition with other information about ongoing relationship, but USCIS will not look at it, they'll just send it over to the consulate.

Yes, the letter of intent says that you will get married within 90 days of coming to the US, so if you're not engaged, then you're basically lying and the consulate can deny the visa if they find out, but you do not have to prove that you're engaged before filing the petition.

Thank you guys. The thing though.... we havent really got any formal engagement. but we are definitely engaged. after he left in May ... we never stop communicating. Its ongoing. And I can give them a thousand pages of our chat history. I am really hoping we'll get through this real smooth. I know its hard on his part too. Being far from your love really sucks... Its killing me!

This is not necessarily true. My petition included all kinds of evidence that we met in person, but we still got RFE'd because I didn't explain how we established our relationship. It is a tricky nuance, but check out the topic I posted a few months ago.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/394180-rfe-to-show-we-met-in-person-help/

In the end, my response to the RFE contained nothing more than a 1.5 page summary of the milestones of our relationship with a one or two sentence description of each milestone (before AND after we met in person). One week later, the NOA2 came.

Ah, so they do look at it sometimes then. Good to know. I'm just going from reading a bunch of people here that did not get any RFEs by not sending any relationship proof and only having a line or 2 about when and where they met and also USCIS instructions which only specify that you must prove that you met, and do not require proof of a relationship at the petition stage.

Keep in mind that proof that you met also includes photos of you together which could be considered as proof of relationship too.

We got our RFE in Dec. and they got it on 26th.. until now we havent heard from them. My fiance said he didnt send any photos. He only send what were being requested. Thats what Im worried about. How long did you have to wait after they got your RFE docs ?

Yes I have bunch of photos with him.. and with my family. when he was here. however photos were taken in May only when we first met. I believe pics show our affection with each other

Hi,

Thanks for the link, actually I doubt if he did the same thing. Is it really a requirement to send the letter of intent? He said he only send what are being asked. I dont think he sent a letter or even pics of us. which giving me this feeling gits going to be denied.

Ours was much like yours. My wife now (from Cebu) was 26 I was 58. Had all the trip stuff (hotel and flight info and copies of my in/out pages of my passport) pictures of us together and cards, western union statements of cash sent to her and chat logs. No problem for us hopefully the same for you.

Thanks guys

25 years... huge gap... NOT. There are many with age gaps bigger. Your story really is not very different then many who have traveled this journey.

For the K-1 I-129F petition you need to show that you have met in person within the past two years. Ongoing relationship evidence is for later at the embassy for visa application.

There will be no raised eyebrows at the embassy... relax.

Pop onto the Philippine forum lots of good folks there to help. Philippine Forum

If he did not send letters of intent from both of you he did not send what is required. Here is a link to the GUIDE for the K-1 petition process. You won't get denied unless he totally messed up with the petition, you will very likely get RFE (Requests For Evidence) for what he failed to send. Read the GUIDE and what was missed be prepared to provide when they send the RFE.

You may have a hiccup in your start, but it will happen.

This is a very important link. ForgottenLady, it sounds like your fiance already filed AND received an RFE in December? It will be helpful if you create your timeline here on your VisaJourney profile so we can help you better.

Hi. Met my now husband on a premium christian dating website March last year. He came to visit in May and got married so we can start the spousal visa process. We are more in love now and committed to stay in love, for better or for worse till death do us part. My petition papers are now at the NVC and my lawyer said I could get an interview schedule until Feb.

We sent all the necessary docs like pictures and emails as proofs in the genuineness of our relationship. You dont have to worry, if you are truly in love. Just be yourself during the interview. The truth will prevail. Well, that is what makes me sometimes anxious about the interview because everything about us happened so quickly  . All we have to do is to be truthful, stay in love, and have tons of evidences. God bless you. :)
