well... the lawyer sent us some letters witn nvc numbers and told us to follow instructions on the letters sent to them. We are trying to figure out what is next...lol... I thought lawyers were gonna make this easier on us but so far... just RFE´s not gotten is the best they have done for us... :bonk:

Oh, if you got an email with the numbers, then the case number was actually assigned a few days ago (there's a delay between issuance and receiving the email).

this is her email...

"Hi Bryan,

Please the attached fee bills we just received from NVC, and follow the online payment instructions. As soon as you see confirmation of payment for each individual and separate payment (2 payments each that should total $318 per person), please forward to me the Document Cover Sheets (no need to send Receipts)."

honestly... no idea what she means with this. Im supposed to get the numbers then pay? Or do I just pay?

From the email, it looks like the lawyer wants YOU to pay the bills, not them. Go to the online portal, sign in with the case number and IIN, then pay the two fees (AOS and IV). Once they're paid, a bar-coded cover sheet is generated (called a Document Sheet on the payment portal). That's what the lawyer wants you to forward.

Once the two bills are paid, you can send the two packages. I'm not sure if your lawyer is going to collect the documents from you or not.

We really appreciate your help Saylin! (L)

Even though it was confusing at the beginning, we figured it out and paid the bills already!!

She asked us to send a lot of documents at the beginning of this process... three copies of each one including translations of all of them, so she already has what she needs we hope...

Glad you figured it out good.gif

Have you already sent the I-864 and DS-230? Tax information? The certificates (birth, marriage, police)? Passport copy? Pictures? I'd suggest looking at the guides in the first post as well as the FAQ on the second post to make sure she has everything. Just because she's a lawyer does NOT guarantee she knows everything. I've seen so many people with lawyers get a checklist for not including things because the lawyers didn't "know" headbonk.gif

The I-864 and DS-230 we havent sent. We mailed her to see what is next but i think it will be until the fees are paid. We sent the tax info and all certificates, my police certificate and a copy of my new passport also. Our only concern is that my name appears as the one I used to have before i got divorced (as i had not had received the new passport when she asked us to send the documents) I hope this will not be a problem... However I will take a look at all this documents and send what i see in those list if she did not ask for it!! thanks again Spreadsheet Sensei!!!

Yeah, don't send the packages until the fees have shown as PAID. But, that'll be later this week. At that point, you'll be able to send the packages, so if you don't want to waste time, better get on those packages.

I don't think the passport name should be a problem, but who knows. These immigration departments are weird at times headbonk.gif

Have you been calling in? They received my case exactly a week before yours, and I got my case number last Monday (though they told me it had been ready since Feb 1st). Keep calling! The operators spew the "10 - 20 business days" speech at everyone. They might have it ready and waiting right now!
