I send I-129F for my fiance on Nov. 14, 2002 and got a text with receipt number. Basically it was filed and check cashed on Nov. 19...but I still haven't received the NOA1 hardcopy. Is that normal??? Getting really antsy. My case says still under review!

2002? I'm sure you meant 2012. your hard copy should be in your hand already. Call USCIS.

Yes I meant 2012. That's what I thought...They keep telling me to wait and that they will resend it if the mail got returned. The address and everything was correct. I sent them a very careful and complete packet in hopes of an approval and not RFE. Does this mean that 1 month of processing time has gone down the toilet, or is my place in line the Nov 19 date?

If you have received your receipt number on your petition, it should be fine but normally we would want the hard copy, wouldn't we? I am pretty sure that as long as you can track your receipt number on USCIS.gov, your papers should be alright. I've read some posts here that they have received 3 hard copies. Stick on that text message and the receipt number. Call them if you can as you want a hard copy.

No you have not lost your place in line. As far as I know, they're not even looking at November applications yet. If you received a text with a number etc, that means they did indeed receive it. They also said they would resend you your NOA1 if necessary. If you type in your receipt # on the USCIS website does it say anything? (Go to uscis.gov and click on "my case status" near the bottom of the page, then you can enter your receipt number)

Yes it does say it is under initial review, as I have created a USCIS acct and attached my receipt#. Trying to be patient, but that's always been such a problem of mine. "Good things come to those who wait" is def what I keep telling myself...I will call tomorrow and demand they resend. Every thread I read says they got their hard copy like a week after the email/sms notice....

It will say Initial Review until they either issue an RFE or it has been approved or denied. You have at least a 5 month wait until that message changes :)

Your Case number should begin with WAC if it is through California, not EAC (through Vermont). If you have a number you don't necessarily need a paper copy. The status may read "Initial Review" right through the process and after it has been approved as often happens. It may be updated but it is possible that it wont be, or it may just show that you are approved when that happens. If you put all your information in your timeline, you should get a date when your petition is likely to be approved or otherwise. Again, this can change depending on the workload or delays in processing.

If you have a case number and your check has been banked, then they have your file. Following that you can only keep an eye on others results to give some indication of when you may expect your I-129F to be approved, an RFE or other outcome.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .
