My I-797C notices came through for my AOS applications today and I noticed they got my Alien registration number wrong.

I've called and lodged a service request for this with the USCIS and told to wait fifteen days.

However

I came in under a K1 visa, and I've only just noticed that the NOA2 notice from the K1 has the same error. A 1 instead of a 7. The Visa in my passport has a 7.

I am now extremely worried that this might cause much bigger issues down the line.

Should I just leave it as my passport printed visa will over-rule the original NOA2 notice? Or do I need to do something to get this all corrected?

What are the implications of this?

Your NOA2 from your I-129F has the right A# if it was the first time that you dealt with the USCIS (was it? or have you dealt with the USCIS before starting the K-1 route?)). Sometimes the Embassy makes mistakes, and put the wrong number on the visa (your NOA2 from your I-129F came BEFORE your K-1 visa).

So it looks like your wrote the A# on your visa, for your AOS paperwork, and this was the wrong number. The USCIS figured out that it was wrong and put the correct number on your NOA from AOS. If that's the case, then there was no problem.

So I need to have my service request for my AOS cancelled and get one lodged that the printed visa is wrong? How will this affect me now that I'm already in the country?

I would say it would have no effect, but you should have checked more carefully your visa the day you got it, to verify that all the info where correct. I read in the past that some people got the same problem on VJ, need to do some research on the forums to see if we can find those topics again. :)

Edit: In fact it may be problematic... I would make an InfoPass appointment to your local USCIS to explain them the problem.

Unfortunately I didn't have the NOA2 in hand since I was x thousand miles away from it being the beneficiary. I had no way to match it up. Criticism does not help me now.

A quick scan or even pic sent by email was easy to do. It's not criticizing you, it's to tell you to be more careful in the future, you know. No need to blame me. :)

Here are some other topics from people who got the same problem: http://www.visajourney.com/search/index.php?cx=007424365766759747816%3Auy9flr-th5y&cof=FORID%3A10&q=A%23+different+on+NOA2+than+visa&sa=Search&siteurl=www.visajourney.com%2F&ref=&ss=3384j8063058j5

The NOA2 is the correct number. So it sounds like USCIS corrected the mistake from the visa and is using the NOA2 number, right? that's all you need. Everything is fine.

The NOA2 does NOT have an error, the visa does. If the AOS forms have the same number as the k1 NOA2 you're fine. The visa was just a typo.

All

Thanks for the feedback

I've spent about two hours on hold and spoken to Tier 2 at the USCIS. Yes as everyone has said on here, the visa is incorrect and the NOA2 from the K1 does have the correct number.

Interesting fact, my visa ends with a 14. The visa in my passport is a 74 which apparently belongs to a woman in a different country.

Notes have been added to my file to correct everything and the USCIS has added separate notes to the account for the future applications. All current applications have been updated to explain, and HOPEFULLY everything will work out.
