I know I am speechless too. If it wsn't happening to me I would think this is a really bad joke. My husband text me and thinks I am playing a joke on him. So until I get there to Nigeria maybe in the next 2 months well things will just have to sit.

I'm so sorry! *major hugs*

Just devastated. The FedEx envelope was delivered and it has been opened by customs all documents taken and replaced with 5 blank sheets of paper.

What's funny and how these thieves told on themselves is this envelope was weighed at 1.5 lbs. Its barely an ounce now.

I so thought I was hitting 2013 on a good happy note. Guess until I arrive in Nigeria nothing is going forward.:(

Honestly i do not know what to say. I was narrating your experiences to my husband when i called him to let him know the package arrived and we just could not find an explanation for it. I have mailed and received stuff (vital documents and books) to and from Nigeria through USPS mail, courier services, Nigeria EMS and registered mails and NEVER had any issues.

Pls stand strong as you look for ways to overcome this. hold on to God in prayers cos I think you guys really need it.

stay blessed

I appreciate the encouragement and yes we need God for real. And we for sure lean and depend on him. But know this nothing about my case is in the mainstream normal. My case literally was lost at CSC after I got my NOA2 approval. USCIS nor NVC knew where it was. Than 30 days later after a service request and inquiry it was found. I am sure everybody else skated to NVC not us.

In my 3 years with my husband I have sent over 30 letters and cards. One has arrived. It took 6 months, the rest God only knows. None he has sent has ever arrived. That includes his, aunts uncle and friends (One friend did send me a Christmas card in 2009). It happens.

A member here sent a a package using postal service to Nigeria it arrived last July . It took only 2 years to arrive. I could go on and on of all the people I know who have never been fortunate like you to receive their mail or their love ones in Nigeria received mail from them.

I have used in this process postal mail, DHL FedEx and all have failed me. This isn't the fist time something that was FedEx got taken. I had my new ATM cards stolen out when I was in Nigeria and my bank FedEx me new ones. Envelope arrived empty.

I realize it may seem odd or suspect because it hasn't happen to you or others but it happens. Everyone that deals with Nigeria knows how corrupt and the many thieves at courier places and Oh God Customs. They hold your mail and packages ransom and well it's a shame. They have major issues that are well documented. We will get through this and get the victory. Some things worth wanting just take a bit more time.

Delayed but not denied.

Happy New year's all...I have a question: My hubby and I like so many others filed a B2 early in our relationship of course hoping he could come to America to visit first (uh yeah right lol)...well anyway we were denied and our relationship went on and we obviously got married...so my ? then is this...will this be a problem at the interview for him? for us? should I mention that we filed a b2 in my additional evidence to NVC or should I just not worry about it? I just don't want any unnecessary hold ups....thanks in advance!

If it's not asked about, then don't provide that information. But, if it is asked about, of course explain what happened as lying about it is grounds for a visa denial, and possibly even a ban to the US.

yes of course :) thank you...I just wasn't sure if we should have mentioned it somewhere on the actual application I hope I didn't over look it but I don't think I seen a place for it with the I130 or DS-230....we aren't going to lie that's for sure heck it's the embassy they already know

Nope, there's no question about previous visa denials, only problems at POEs and arrests/charges. Now, the embassy may still ask at the interview, but NVC doesn't.

Just needed some much needed clarification regarding the new additional fee that will be implemented starting feb 1, 2013. My daughter and i will be picking up my husband and will be flying back on feb 8. He received all of his visa documents last december. Are we exempted from the $165 fee since he received his packet before the implementation date? Thank you.

Yes, you are exempt. The new fee is for "Any individual who on or after February 1, 2013 receives an immigrant visa package from a United States consulate or embassy abroad (including Canada and Mexico) will pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee."
