VJ, is not here to satisfy the wants of posters who have questions about other people's issues. There's no lie in a loan. Recent deposits need to be explained. If explained truthfully, no fraud. However, the truthful explanation may or may not convince the Consular Officer the intending immigrant won't become a public charge. If I were the consular officer given the answer, "My parents loaned me the money." my next question would be about the terms of repayment. My decision would have a lot to do with the answer to that question AND the rest of the totality of the circumstances.

If I were the OP, I wouldn't hold out any great hope that a loan is going to satisfy the Consular officer. It would be worth a try but if handled honestly, not fraud. If the documentation of funds is not questioned, also no fraud because no lie.

A VJ member's concerns are irrelevant.

I don't think my curiosity on the legality of actions in the immigration system deserves, at all, a response like 'not what you're here to do.'

If you don't want to answer my question, that's your decision, but that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't.

My question was not specific enough that it could not apply to someone else.

If he completely disclosed the terms of the loan which included 'I'm giving the money back next week' and an officer approved them, then fine and dandy for them, I wouldn't particularly think that's fair, but you're right in the fact that my concerns aren't relevant in that particular case, or any for that matter.

But I'm perfectly entitled to ask my question and get an answer if someone wants to answer it.

You got an answer. May I suggest you cool it and mind your own business? Am I entitled to ask that? whistling.gif

then i suggest you start your own thread about that topic rather than hijacking this thread with your own agenda.

Also, I should probably share my experience. After having gone through the process, I'm sure these things change on a case by case basis. Money isn't the end of the world. They take into account several factors.

Employment history - have you ever been unemployed for a long period of time, or do you wait and secure new employment before leaving your current job?

Education - Do you have a bachelor's degree, masters, PhD? In what? What is your earning potential? Do you have a job offer?

Family Status - How much do your family members make a year, or are they unemployed? Are any family members divorced? Married?

Age - If you're 45 years old and still barely making ends meet, they may take that a little differently than a 25 year old in the same situation.

Also, a little kindness goes a long way, and confidence is good too (confident, not cocky).

Sometimes it comes down to gut feeling, how does the CO feel about you.

Congrats!

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

We commonly just refer to the explanation above as "considering the totality of the circumstances" but it's a good explanation of exactly what that means.
