My husband has all his wisdom teeth, never had cavities and was recently told by his dentist that he has the cleanest teeth she has ever seen.

A day before, I came from the same dentist and had to have a fluoride rinse, some work done on my cavities aaaand was up for removal of all my exposed wisdom teeth for this first quarter of 2013.

For a few days after those dental visits, I felt utterly ashamed to be kissing him with his perfect oral hygiene.

some people are just susceptible to oral issues

five years ago i got insurance

saw the dentist and she tells me the block spots on my teeth are just stains

year later i see different dentist

he tells me i have twelve cavities in three rear molars

took eight shots of novocaine(sp) to get it done

guy tells me theyre super old and first dentist should lose her license

i used to have a red bull problem

I had a root canal done last year and I just ate chocolate bread pudding.

We are cursed.

I'm waiting for my (2) metal fillings to fall out.

I got them when I was 11.

My mom told me like 2 years ago that these things don't last forever #######!

I actually prefer the metal fillings and so does my dentist. He said the real reason I needed so many root canals was the white fillings they did do not last a long time and rot got behind them all within 2 years. I have amalgam in all of my non-crowned back teeth now.

I am obsessed with teeth which includes my own.

I had braces and they gave me what people apparently find to be extremely nice teeth.

They seem to be the only thing I get complimented on so I should probably take care of them.

And my eyelashes... but I don't think I have to take care of those.

I also tend to just stare at people's teeth.

I don't think I could be with someone that had gross teeth.

That doesn't mean they have to be perfect straight, because I love all kinds of teeth.

But EXTRA effed up or yellow/missing/rotting. Ew get out.

I don't like to look at my dad because his teeth are rotting.

Disgusting. Grosses me out.

I had the rest surgically removed the following months. The last two were terrible. I'd rate that pain as worse than childbirth simply because childbirth lasted only 2.5 hours. My incision sites had me down for days. I couldn't eat or sleep or think. Even my heartbeat drove me nuts, the throbbing. My whole face eventually turned green. It was disgusting. Ugh, glad I never have to go through that again.

My wisdom teeth just started coming in a few months ago and I am TERRIFIED to get them taken out. I have an aversion to needles anyway, and getting them in my mouth is ten times worse. The dentist just creeps me out in general, plus it's waaaay expensive. I asked my husband if it would be better to get them taken out here (we're living in Ecuador at the moment), considering they have free public health care, but when we asked my mother-in-law where the best place to go would be, she informed us that wisdom teeth "don't exist here".

LMAO don't exist.

Right.

Are they impacted?

If your teeth are impacted, then they'll put you under anesthesia so your aversion doesn't matter.

Has anyone TOLD you that you have to get them removed?

They aren't always removed...

Switching Topics.

I think the cyber police are cutting down on illegal video streaming.

It's becoming impossible to watch back episodes of shows that I miss.

If I don't watch them the day after they air, then they don't load or get taken down, or just stop halfway through.

Damn you cyber police!

I do floss and brush my teeth twice a day, but I think it is the years of soda drinking. *shrugs* My teeth are not pearly white despite the whitening toothpastes and things because I drink a lot of tea and coffee. It has never really bothered me though.

I don't think the whole procedure was that bad when I've had it done. The oral surgeon put an IV in and gave me a cocktail of sedatives and then they operated. All I remember is hearing them talking while not really being concious. Frankly, anything was better than the pain of the wisdom teeth as my bottom two were growing horizontally into the rest of my teeth. Ouch!

Mine were impacted and growing sideways as well.

The pain that followed the surgery was terrible.

I lost 20lbs in the following 3 months post surgery.

No dry sockets or anything, I just had constant pain.

Could barely eat or sleep and eventually had stomach bleeding because I was taking too many pain killers.

I would say it depends on how complicated your case is. Some people have room in their mouths for wisdom teeth and it is never really a problem. Some people have *some room* and they have partially erupted wisdom teeth that at least face the correct direction. Some people have all kinds of f'd up wisdom teeth. I had the last two kinds, so here is my experience:

1) This tooth erupted directly through the side of my jaw, so though it fully erupted, the chewing face was into my cheek. It died a traditional gruesome death as I had no money for a removal. But once the dentist pulled it, I had no problems. In fact, it was as if nothing happened within a day or so. I 'disappointed' all of my future in-laws that I did not swell up like a chipmunk. :P

2) This tooth was partially erupted in my bottom jaw. It was facing the correct direction. The oral surgeon decided for stability purposes just to remove this tooth and do the other two under general later. It was nasty. A lot of my jaw bone had to be sawed away to get it so the smell was just lovely. But still, the recovery wasn't that bad. I got two or three stitches. It hurt more than No. 1, but eh, still tolerable.

3 & 4) 3 was pretty much the same as 2. 4 was a completely impacted in my upper jaw, trying its best to erupt into the roots of my second molar. The oral surgeon deemed too complicated for local anesthetic and had to have me go under for the procedure. I guess I should have you know figured this was going to be a bigger deal, but I thought it would be tolerable like 2. Well, I was dead wrong. It was way worse than I could have possibly imagined from previous experience. My experience was complicated by the fact that it was the weekend, I had stupidly told my husband it would be fine to go to Koblenz with his friends for the weekend because I didn't think it would be a big deal, and I had no real way of getting better drugs. Good times. My husband also lost his wedding ring on that trip in a snowball fight, so worth it. :bonk:

If you are non-complicated enough for local, you will most likely be OK. It won't be a grand time at the beach, but tolerable. If you have to go under and that is not a choice in the least bit...um...brace yourself.

I was advised to have mine taken out. But I have to delay it til March.

Oh dear. :( i might have to delay it til after our May trip then. How long did it take for everything to be back to normal again?

Randomness of the day... Just because I'm bored...

Twelve flavors of Kit Kat for your perusal :luv:

Wow... that looks... gross... impressive though...

Is that wine and cheese kitkat in the bottom left? And pancake kitkat? *shudders*

Hahaha! They're not gross. :)

Japanese love desserts. And they have different ones wherever you go.

The flavored kitkats are usually fruit-flavored, cake-flavored or tea-flavored white chocolafe. Ones like wasabi (middle of bottom row) are in milk chocolate so they're still not bad at all.

The wine & cheese you see on bottom row is a rum & raisin flavor. Actually tastes like grape-flavored white chocolate to me :)

My favorite is the sakura matcha (cherry and green tea mix) flavor :) best kit kat flavor ever!

It is payday, so shopping day. I was happy to see the bank account this morning. My husband got laid off from his last full-time job at the end of August. He got a full-time temp job in November and they hired him full-time regular the first of January. So this is the first pay cycle with all the money at his new salary.
