Isn't Greece a VWP country?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thank you all for your replies. He did get his b1b2 visa :D. Now my question is. How long should I book his ticket for? Should I only do 1 month? He is very nervous that customs won't let him in if his return is to long. He wants to visit for the holidays and wants to stay until January. Yes Greece has the VWP but there was a bigggg misunderstanding when he came here a couple of weeks ago and they sent him back :( and said he needed to get a B1B2 visa which he was approved :D, now he is very nervous about coming back.

There is a limit on length of visit. Usually the Immigration officer at the POE will stamp the length of stay on the I-94. I believe, it can be up to 180 days.

So he needs to have a I-94 form or they will give it to him? They did give him an I-94w when they sent him back.

He should book the flight for as long as he wants to stay 2 months (till early January) is entirely reasonable.

My mom came to visit me from Ukraine on B2 visa. She stayed for over 2 months. My friend's parents stayed for 6 months. Citizens of other countries with B type visa are required to reside in their home country for 6 months and 1 day, so the rest can be spent in the US. Hope that helps!

The airline will have I-94 forms that they hand out on board for him to fill out before landing on the US.

Why was he turned back on the VWP?
