a troll is anybody who tries to stir up trouble... this can be new people to the group or veteran members

A veteran member is only a troll if they create a new account to comment. I have no problem with 'honest' comments in off-topic but some people call it (wrongly) trollish behavior.

It's all subjective, so I don't see how you can say that anonymity or identity deception is a necessary component of trolling.

A troll hides under a bridge, an internet troll hides behind a false identity. Not subjective. Or are you being a troll?

My reply was meant as an attempt at humor. Jenn knows me well here. I'm sure she will understand it...and some people not knowing the background will misunderstand it.

I, too, often forget that many people on VJ have read less than a majority of all the posts on VJ.

A troll is used on this site to mean someone you dont agree with. So for example if I hate your guts, I just call you a troll and start a hate campiagn for people to hate you. Hate mongers.

So, the word troll has different meanings to different people.

To me, a troll is an entertainer who uses their brain and keyboard to communicate their views, without stepping on anyone's toes.

I find it funny how you define "troll", because nothing about you is entertaining, brainy, or light-footed. Spouting negative misinformation in an informational part of this website has no redeeming value whatsoever.

But if you must insist on being a jack*ss, at least you're finally in the right forum.

And thanks for your support. That's the kind of thing I really come here for, and it's why the Trolls get me down. It's good to have a place to go where you know everyone can identify with what you're going through.
