Hello VJ,

I am sure this question has been asked and answered. Please bear with me. How long after the interview should we plan for US entry? When I spoke to the US consultate in Paris, they said 2 days after the interview. I looked at the guides and some say 1 week. I would like to go to the interview and come back with my fiance, but I can't take off work a long time waiting for the visa. Thanks for the advice and shared experiences.

Once you have the visa in hand, it's up to you. The K1 is good for six months from receipt. Can't imagine why they told you two days unless they mean two days for you to receive it (in the event they send it rather than give it to you at the interview).

There was a recent poster who bought tickets for 4 days after the interview. The interview went very well until the CO asked for a document that they could not produce. Visa was not approved due to this misstep.....

YMMV

I am also planning to fly out the same day I get the visa! My problem is that I am trying to get a mileage ticket and in December they are pretty much booked up. My husband managed to get a flight on that day (also on miles) and I was hoping to fly with him. Do you really think it's too risky?

It is a crapshoot.... Most times it probably will be OK but there is always the unknown which you cannot control...

YMMV

The problem is, you know when your interview is but you do not know when your visa will be issued. Even if your embassy usually issues on the same day, if something comes up during the interview and they request additional evidence or something, you are out your ticket or at least some money for the change.

We all understand the desire to get together as soon as possible. I am facing that with my own fiance. My family and I will be there for his interview and 10 more days after. He would love to come back with us but cannot possibly get a ticket until the visa is in his hand.

Having that information, you will have to decide if it is worth the risk to you. Good luck with your interview.

If you're buying a one-way ticket (which you might be in this case, right?) they are usually more expensive but they are refundable. Especially if it's a charter airline and not a big carrier like Delta, United, etc.

I realized that this whole immigration process is contrary to my whol personality. I like to plan everything. When we were first approved, I was planning our summer and wedding. I haven't learned anything from the whole IMBRA #######. Then, we were reapproved and I thought that he would be here by 3 months after our approval. Wrong. My fiance had his whole life coming to an end in October and we now have to decide what he is going to do for a month. Then, I ask the question about a plane ticket. Still hadn't learned anything.

We will wait. Although super busy at work, I am going to the interview because of the uncertainty in all of this process. My fiance comes first.

Thanks for the advice.
