So, the big day is almost upon us. The excitement has kicked in and on the 22nd we'll be sending in my ROC application. I'll be a busy bee copying, printing, tagging this upcoming week. :)

Hello,

Thanks Leenie for starting this thread. I am a USC and my wife is a conditional resident. Our window to file ROC also opened on Oct 13th. We had a baby last year. We have the following documents

Joint tax return transcript

Birth certificate of our son

Joint bank accounts

Life insurance with my wife listed as the beneficiary

I am not sure will this be enough. Some people here on VJ mentioned that USCIS no longer requires to send pictures. Will these following additional documents be helpful. Medical record of our son with both of our names, and medical record of my wife during her pregnancy with my name in it.

thanks

Yes, I think the additional documents you mentioned will be helpful. I would include them if I were you. Truthfully, I think you need a little more evidence to make your case without an RFE. Do you have any of the following items or could you obtain them? These are just some possibilities...

- Apartment lease or mortgage documents

- Joint loan documents of any kind, such as for a car

- Car title showing both names if you own your car

- Joint health or dental insurance records

- Joint auto/home/renters' insurance

- Joint credit cards (you can actually photocopy the cards themselves) or card statements

- Joint utility bills

- Joint cell phone plan/bill/other information

- Copies of emails you sent to each other

- Cards or letters addressed to you (such as from wedding/Christmas/etc)

- Signed affidavits from friends and family (at least 2)

And yes, do send in pictures! We sent about 20. People on the forums have been approved after sending only one or two pics, but I am a believer that pics are still pretty important. They are the best way you have to depict the humanity of your relationship.

So, the big day is almost upon us. The excitement has kicked in and on the 22nd we'll be sending in my ROC application. I'll be a busy bee copying, printing, tagging this upcoming week. :)

It feels so good to have it sent off! I bet you can't wait! But now I don't really know what else to do with my time. haha tongue_ss.gif

Hello everybody. I have been reading VJ for years and now is the good time to ask questions.

Our window opens on Oct. 29, so will be shipping our documents on the 27th. Unfortunately, Vermont is our office...

So, do you think this list would cover our case (my wife and her son entered the US on a working visa P-1/P-4 and we got their GCs in Jan.2011)???

• Front and back copies of the Permanent Resident cards of my wife and her son.

• Copies of our driver’s licenses showing the same address of residence.

• Copy of Birth Certificate of our son.

• Transcripts of our 2010 and 2011 joint Federal Tax Returns.

• Letter from my company of the designation of my life insurance benefits to my wife.

• Copies of various car insurance and registration notices.

• Copy of the title of our car, showing joint ownership.

• Copies of our various credit cards showing joint accounts.

• Copies of statements from various joint credit cards’ accounts.

• Copies of statements from joint checking and savings accounts.

• Copies of voided checks from joint accounts.

• Copies of various utility bills showing both of our names on the same address.

• Copy of our health and dental insurance cards showing joint policies.

• Copies of papers from our kids’ physician’s office and my step-son's elementary school’s office showing both of our names as parents and emergency contacts as well as the same address of residence.

• Copy of our Personal Property Assessment Report.

• Copy of our Sam's Club cards on a joint account.

• Copies of our Union cards showing the same address of residence.

• Copy of our airline tickets for a vacation that we took in May of 2012.

• Letter by U.S. citizen friend, attesting to our relationship and marriage.

• Family photos in various places with family members and other people.

• Copies of greeting cards addressed to our family.

• Copies of affidavits showing various places we worked together.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Ok, 2 questions! :)

Did you send in the actual photos or the black & white & color copies?

Did you make the check or the money order payable to US Department of Homeland Security or to US Citizenship and Immigration Services?

Thanks!

Hey A + M, I went with color pictures, just because I didn't want to have to worry about whether the pictures will look correct on black and white or not -- had enough work making copies and keeping everything in order.

As for the check, the I-751 Instructions, page 3, specifically say U.S. Department of Homeland Security, so that is what we went with. Don't just use the initials. :innocent:

For the GC application, the checks we sent were also made out to US Department of Homeland Security.

Hope this helps clear things up.

We copied and pasted various photos onto several pieces of paper (saved on our computer from our wedding to the time we were submitting our application) and we wrote one line captions for each picture (date, place, brief description). We sent a total of18 pictures-2 on each page. We printed out the pages and they were in colour.

I believe we made out our money order to the US Department of Homeland Security.

Good Luck. :)

We might have a hiccup in our case. My husband received a citation for "fare evasion" his second week in the US. We had an ice storm in Dallas --- which shuts everything down -- and he had a job interview and had to take the train but the fare machines were iced over and not working. A pro bono lawyer helped us get it dismissed in the court. We sent in a short explanation and a stamped dismissal order, but I'm worried that the court should have given us more paperwork than that. To make matters worse, his name was written incorrectly on all the papers during the whole process. Ugh, I hope this does not slow us down or mean we have to get a lawyer involved again.

Other than that, we sent lots of good evidence. Our list was not as long as some of you, though! Fingers crossed for a speedy resolution. I think the worst part of this is that my husband is going to be looking for a new job soon and many employers seem to not understand that the extension letter is perfectly legal.
