I am filing for my AOS, and I sent my i-485 packet including everything & g-1445 with email and phone number on 9-7-2012. Chicago lockbox received the package from USPS on 9-10-2012. I never received a text or email confirming that they received the packet. I haven't received any NOA yet either. I know its a little early, but should I be worried? Is this a common occurance? I thought the G-1445 was for the Chicago center to email me when they received my stuff. Thank you for any information!

It can take up to 30 days to receive a notice from USCIS indicating that they have accepted your applications for processing.

G-1145s are routinely ignored, so even if you submit one or more there is no guarantee they will actually be used.

It took me 11 days before I got my email saying that it was received so don't sweat it just yet. And Even after that I only got text messages regarding updates not emails, even though I asked for both emails and text messages when I set up my account after receiving my NOA1. So hold tight, I am sure that you will receive something soon

We have been fortunate and have gotten prompt email/SMS messages when we have used the form. However, I have read about less than stellar performance from others using the form. It seems to be a hit-or-miss deal.

No reason to be worried yet, and it won't get you anywhere. Why?

1 - USCIS won't do anything before 30 days have gone by since you submitted your application.

2 - Your envelope is most likely in a mailroom/sorting facility where they first and foremost take the money order/check, sort through the bunch load of petitions/applications and then a NOA1 is generated AFTER payment has cleared, otherwise you won't get a receipt/NOA1 for paying(obviously).

3 - G1145 isn't a guarentee you'll receive text/email rightaway. If you haven't heard anything within 30 days, call USCIS. Remember that depending on your location, it may take some time for the hardcopy to reach your mailbox.

We waited 18 days from USCIS received the case until they sent an email update, and we received a NOA1 hardcopy the day after. Technology isn't their strongest side, IMO. Check to see if money has been taken out of your account, that's usually the first clue to what's going on.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

I sent mine on Sept 17, they received it on the 19th, and I'm already checking my phone and email every 20 minutes looking for a notification.

I keep checking my bank too to see if they've cashed the check.

No need to be checking every 20 min, if your package was delivered properly. Relax! :)
