i believe K-1 is immigration visa line. it is a gray area here. I asked the consulate in Saigon, and they told me to submit paperworks through immigration section. K-1 is also required to get vaccinnation too. Can someone help to verify here? i am interested to know this too. Thanks.

Does K1 visa holder wait in the line of Immigration Visa or Non Immigration visa at POE?

Can we get married before getting SSN?

If she's travelling by herself, tell her to let one of the officers that organize the lines, that's she's a K1 Packet holder. She can either be put in a special line for it (happened to me coming from Atlanta) or in a regular non-immigrant line. IF she's coming with you, you can both make the line for citizens.

Yes, you should be able to get married without applying for an SSN# first, just double check with the court house to see what all they require for the marriage license (it varies from County to County, sometimes)

According to the State Department, K1s are not required to get vaccination.

yep u can stand in the immigration line , it will be faily quick

SSN has no co-relation to your marriage , u can get married before or after. One point though , if u are planning to change the name , then apply for SSN after u get married or will have to make another trip to make a name change

It all depends. When came through POE at LAX the person organizing the lines told us we had to get in the visitor/non-citizen line. Three flights from Asia came in at the same time so it was a little crowded. The U.S. citizen lines died down so they sent us down there and we sailed through in minutes. The CBP agent was super nice, welcomed my fiancee to the U.S., congratulated us and reminded us twice to get married in 90 days. Good luck!

my husband went to visitor/non-citizen line too...don't remember if it was immigration line or not. also we got his ssn two weeks after arriving and we got married 2 months after he arrived. you just need to get your ssn before it gets to close to your I-94 expiring.

i am really sure all K-1 is required vaccination, because almost everyone that comes as K-1 will stay after wedding.

In this process, really sure doesn't cut it, IMHO. You are either certain or you don't know.

"K visa applicants are encouraged to get the vaccinations required under U.S. immigration law for immigrant visa applicants. Although such vaccinations are not required for K visa issuance, they will be required when adjusting status to that of legal permanent resident following your marriage."

You are not required to get any vaccinations for a K-1, but some vaccinations are required for adjusting status once in the US. So, to avoid having to see a civil surgeon in the US for an I-693, you should get the vaccinations at the medical and have them marked off on the DS-3025. The main problem people have with not getting their vaccinations completed and marked off on the DS-3025 at their K-1 medical is that finding a civil surgeon in the US that will not insist on giving another medical and overcharging can be a difficult task.

The only ones required for AOS are MMR, Tdap/TD, varicella(unless you had the chickenpox) and flu shot(only during flu season). You only need the first shot in a series to file for AOS.
