Lucky for me she don't seem to care.

Congratulations, si man! However, just wait until a very few minutes after she receives her Cert. of Naturalization, and the fun will start for the rest of your life, sigh man.

Background: We mailed Mrs. T-B.'s N-400 (citizenship) to USCIS last week. I printed the 100 interview questions that USCIS can ask, wrote the answers, and gave them to Mrs. T-B. to study. She state

On this, my 10-year anniversary on VJ, I report that Mrs. T-B. just returned from a trip and said "Ecuador is no longer for me."  Seems like the naturalization has stuck, si man.

I was positive that my babe would fail the test but wanted to come report that she actually passed and is set to do the oath ceremony next week. I am about to go get us some ice cream and may even let her eat some.

Thank you. We bought a run down house a few months ago and that and the renovations have been a bother. We are about to move in though. She wrote the check to purchase the home and is getting excited for her first ever home. I am proud of her. Soon I will have more time for simple pleasures.

Not only that, but a lucky Texan, see man!

Hint: Wait about a month before trying to upgrade her driver's license to USC status (cost = $11); the DMV may still require verification.

Hint: Make several color copies of her Cert of Nat, try to find a Post Office (in a small town) that takes walk-in passport applications, and show up to apply ASAP. Bring your checkbook. Standard processing should take 4 to 6 weeks, with the Cert of Nat returned separately.

Hint (as I understand from reading others' advice): Wait until you have the passport before appearing at the Social Security office to upgrade her records to USC status. With the passport, the SSA can apparently achieve the upgrade instantly; with only the Cert of Nat, the SSA apparently requires verification.

We applied for Mrs. T-B.'s and Mini-Bone's passports at the Manvel P.O. on the VERY last day of walk-in availability (they're all-appointment now, as apparently are all except perhaps the Richmond P.O.). We still had to go do something else for a full hour, sigh man. Expect the P.O. to charge you a $50 "service fee" that they blindside you with. Ah, Federal agencies...

Come to think of it, April 1 is (no foolin', no man) the 7th anniversary of when I forswore trying to date American chicas ever again, whee man.
