Oh my, Lucy! You live together in Peru!?! You didn't tell us that!

Of course getting married in Peru is better for you both, especially if you both live there now! Far cheaper and all of those other bonuses, and if we can blow your mind once more... it is probably faster too!

When the I-130 petitioner lives abroad, there has been an "auto expedite" queue for the petition phase. Check out this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/357465-usc-petitioner-living-abroad/

Thanks so much for all the info everyone!! I had no idea. I thought we had to go the k1 route. I wish you all the best!

To get marry in Peru you need to look in the Municipalidad of where you live. It takes about two-three weeks to get married. (fill the medical exam, publish it in the newspaper, and all the bureaucracy over there)

Best wishes

Peru has a USCIS Field Office. If they are eventually married and have been living together in Peru, they can just file the I-130 via DCF. No need to file the I-130 to the Chicago lockbox and hope for an expedited queue.

hi - my fiance and i are looking to get him to to the usa. ive been reading this thread and wondering if in the end its best to get married in australia and then apply for a spouse visa for him instead of going the fiance visa route. i have heard however that the US frowns upon going the marriage route vs the fiance route for some reason. in terms of supportive relationship evidence - how much more does a marriage visa require? for an australian spouse visa for example - they want proof of living together as husband and wife for at least 2 yrs and many other bits of strong evidence like joint ownership of cars, homes, joint checking accts. we only rekindled our relationship in nov 2011 (we were high school sweethearts 23 yrs ago) does the US want this type of evidence for a spouse visa too? it seems that either way, we are looking at 5-7 months or so of this process as long as we dont have any glitches.... any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. many thanks
