Don't know if this is the best place to post these questions, but I think I could be using this website more effectively. How can I search through posts for keywords and similiar questions that I have? I don't want to post questions loads of people have already asked.

How do I update my timeline? I see some people have in their timeline when they met and moved in together, when they visited each other, etc. When I try to update it only gives me the options to update when I filed for what. I would like to add more information so if anyone else has a similiar situation they can find me.

Thanks for your help.

click on your profile name in upper right corner...you can see your profile. you can find the "timeline" and "photo" selection on left side under "my information". click the one to change, either then has options to edit, add, organize timeline or photos.

the "search " function....wow...does anyone use that ...? :P

good luck

Top right of the page is the search box. You use that to search the forums and find certain posts.

Moving to site related discussion from Spousal visa forums.

If you want a more detailed timeline with some more personal events other than just form filing, you can add a signature to all of your posts. To do this, go to your profile, click "edit profile" and there's a place on the left hand side that says change signature. Type your timeline up in that box. :)

I always use Advanced Searxch--top right in the white area below the blue menu bars. Click it to get to the search page. Put in your search terms. If you want to find a particular author there is a blank for their user name or leave it blank. Scroll down. I always choose the results to be "posts" by ticking that. If you only want to search a particular forum, there's a dropdown to choose it. Default will search all forums. finally click "Search" at the bottom.

The timelines you see at the end of posts are "signatures". Create one by--

Find your name at the top right of the page.

Underneath is a link called "Settings". Click

New page. Under "Your Options" there's some tab looking things saying Settings, Forums, Profile, Links

Click Profile.

New page. Look in the left column for Change Signature. Click.

Type your life story in the Edit box. ^_^

Make sure your posting options include "enable signature".

Edit: Oops. Just now seeing the post already telling you about signature. Good answer.

Please don't put a large amount of info in your signature. I have blocked all signatures because some are so crazy large. Instead my details are listed in the "About Me" section of my profile. Is able to be much larger and my signature is much smaller and contains more important info. Just a suggestion.
