[/font]How was your ceremony?

Nice, solemn, comfortable, and fast enough - just 2 hours for all. We listened for nice speeches, with a bit of humor, and all was friendly and full of kindness and welcoming. Weather was good too, we had clean roads yesterday - and today it is raining and showing.

When I started to change my papers for new name, I found out some unexpected expenses. I don't have to pay for changing name on driver license, but for the name on the car registration I should pay $15 to change name in the title. Not a big deal so far, but I will do lots of visits to all king of offices next week: SSA, bank, schools, city hall, DHS, dentist and physician, and even vet clinic! And, to change my credit cards, I should send copies of court order to banks headquarters. It keeps me busy, I almost can't feel I am free from other things now: I don't have to report my moving and collect papers and prove anything to immigration service :)

Had my Oath Taking ceremony last 12-14-12 at Montebello, CA

Like everyone else here, it was a nice experience, solemn ceremony. The wait and the registration was a pain since the call time is 8:05 AM,we were out in the cold. But once we get inside, everything is history. I was moved by the judge and the speakers. One said we came there representing almost 82 countries (with 925 oath takers) and we will leave the room as one, as citizens of the United States of America.

Glad I'm over with this journey. Next is to petition my parents :)

Updating with my interview. Hope I don't mess up the format, I'm on a tiny computer...

Interview is on 1/15/13 at 10:45 AM. Not holding my breath for a same-day oath, that's probably cutting it fine, time-wise. It's a Tuesday, which is a good day for me, my shop opens later in the day, that day. I'll have to renew my driver's license before that... when I do that I'll explain the situation and *maybe* they won't make me pay again 2 weeks later... we'll see.

Hello everyone,

I have been waiting to write this post for years!

Last Friday, 12/14/12, I had my Oath ceremony and became an American citizen! The ceremony took 2 hours, which seem to have flown by! My husband couldn't attend but my two best friends were there so of course we took a lot of pictures. More than the ceremony itself I loved the atmosphere, you could feel the excitement in that room! This was by far the best Christmas present I could ever ask for!

Now on to the Social Security Administration and the Post Office to get that blue passport!

Everyone who is still waiting, good luck to you, you are so close!

And thank you to everyone who posts on this forum, you have no idea what calming effect that has had on me, especially when it seemed like USCIS forgot about me. I will be back when my parents decide they want to start their process, but until then, once again, THANK YOU!!!

How exciting..... after all the wait we're almost there! How's the studying going?? I haven't even looked yet!:blush:

Mom went through the questions with me this morning. I had the ones I stumble on, on top and I missed a couple - I haven't looked at them since June. So we went through them - I aced the others, and then Mom went through the ones on top again and I got them right. :D So I'll review them a few more times to make sure I'm familiar with them all once again. I do need to double check the "local" questions to make sure representatives haven't changed - although if they did, if my interview is before Jan 20th, aren't the old ones still in office? Does everyone elected in November, take office Jan. 20th?

01-16-2014 - Expedite service requested

01-19-2014 - Paid IV bill

01-23-2014 - NVC requested phone number for applicant to complete expedite request

01-23-2014 - IV paid

01-30-2014 - Expedite request approved (awaiting email instructions)

02-03-2014 - Expedite approval received in the mail

02-04-2014 - AOS and IV package sent to supervisor (MIL's sent for regular processing)

02-06-2014 - Package received and signed for at NVC

02-10-2014 - Called NVC and was told I-864A not signed by me

02-12-2014 - Signed I-864A sent

02-24-2014 - Case complete for mom per NVC rep

02-27-2014 - Case shipped to Kingston

03-01-2014 - Hard copy of transfer received

03-04-2014 - Interview scheduled over phone by consulate

03-06-2014 - Packet 4 shipped per consulate

04-04-2014 - Interview passed
