Who knows how easy it is to get an extent in on the 6 month time frame? I just found out I am pregnant (oops!) and won't be able to get health insurance in the USA so want to have the baby in the UK. It means we won't be able to got before the end of Feb because we will have to get the little riddler an American passport before we go.

Just looking at options at the moment on both sides of the pond. Otherwise I will have half prenatal care in the UK and half in the USA.

THANKS!

If you haven't had your interview yet you might be able to talk to the interviewing officer. I had received bad news about a family member a few days prior to my interview which kept me longer in Europe than planned (well, meant to move to US about 2-3 weeks after receiving the visa and at that point it was unclear how long I was going to be delayed). The IO was very understanding and offered to not keep my passport but for me to send it in when it's clear when I will be able to travel and that they would issue the visa then with the 6 months validity. If you already have your visa it would still be worth it to call the extortion line and get an email code and explain the situation - they might yet give you an extension.

you could always fly to the US to activate the CR-1, then return to the UK about 5 or so months into the pregnancy (less than 6 because from what I'm told they don't let you fly in the last trimester) and then return to the US after the baby is born and you've received the CRBA. Best of both worlds.

where are you in the process? I'm stumped -

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=124349

are you speaking of the 6 months duration for the validity of use stamped in a CR-1 visa, glued into a passport?

you have slippage time with NVC, can delay, go slow there, but

please fill out yer timeline over at http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=124349

as it's purpose can be two fold:

1. helps others who want to answer your questions and

2. helps others coming up behind you.

Thanks, everyone for the support. We have already had our interview and the man said it was 6 months from the medical. I found out I was pregnant 2 days later! We've thought about flying back to have the baby but the thought of living with my in-laws for 3-4 months is enough to make me want to pay cash for the whole thing in the USA. Besides we would have to stay long enough get the new addition an American passport which takes a bit of time too. I've already got a 10 month old and want to make it as stress free on her as possible.
