Filed an I-130 for my stepson in Early November @ the CSC (NOA 03-11-2012) and still waiting. But what makes this experience even more frustrating than normal, is that any correspondence with the USCIS is with an automated phone system that leads to the answer we already know, (still pending). Why can't they have operators that answer the phone and give an honest assessment as to what is happening with our applications. I'm sure that would smooth things out a little.

Also! seeing a lot of I-130 being accepted (NOA2's) where their NOA1's (timeline) was after my date. I thought they approved on a date system, but that clearly does not seem to be the case.

I have checked the internet for a telephone number for the CSC, but hitting a brick wall right now. Does anyone have that information?

Thanks, Jill

What kind of answer would you expect from a live operator ? All he/she could do is check the status in their computer system which would yield exactly same answer...

So nothing constructive to add? Why answer to this question at all?

The point in hearing a voice that's confirming it's going through it's normal process and not being overlooked via the automated process is comforting. Clearly something you don't care to much about.

No need to get upset. I'm sure kzielu is just trying to give it to you straight. All if us have had to wait in this process, me currently at NVC, but yours is exceptionally long- sorry about that

Our noa2 came show fast so I didn't call them regarding our case status but called numerous times for general questions and got a live person.

The trick is you follow the prompts to change your address, that you have already moved and need to speak to an operator, that'll patch you through! And hopefully they can help.

Best if luck that talking to a live person gets the ball rolling. Maybe try asking for a tier 2 person or a supervisor.

Fingers crossed for you!

Thank you for the reply Amanda. (not upset, was just looking for constructed advice). I was too thinking about going through the change of address route, but if that's the means of talking to someone in person, then maybe that's something i should do. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your delays. The processing times are different depending on the US sponsor's status (citizen or permanent resident) and who the beneficiary is (child, spouse, etc). Check out this link and it will tell you the processing timeframes for CSC. They are only timeframes.

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do

If you are beyond the processing time, you can call your Senators or Congressman and have them look into it. They should be able to get some information.

Good luck, I know the waiting is terrible.

Thanks for taking the time out to respond. I'm a US citizen and our stepchild is not married and under 21. I did call our congressman 2 weeks ago, but even they still not had no reply since they sent an email 2 weeks ago. What does that tell you about our system? My problem is the inconsistency throughout the whole process, and can only imagine what other's are going through.

Hvacagent,

I feel your pain. I'm a US Citizen petitioning for my wife. (I-130) I got my first NOA receipt 170 days ago, and have been stuck in "Initial Review" limbo ever since. I just joined this site yesterday, and I can't tell you how angry I was to see people getting their NOA2's when they received their NOA1's a month and a half after I did. I don't begrudge any of the recipients of this, but I am PO'd at the government and the inequity.

What aggravates me even more is that my wife is from a low volume country, yet these people applying after me and receiving approval before me are from countries like Mexico, India and the Philippines...three of the highest volume countries there are. So much for the "diversity" factor talked about on government sites.

And I agree with you on the customer service line. Why do I have to contact the NCSC to get a referral number just to write the VSC an email asking for more information, and then that "more information" is nothing other than what I can see plainly on the website? In fact "tracking your progress" on the USCIS website is a joke. What is the point of seeing "Initial Review" every day for 170+ days? It's useless. Yet I am sure millions of our taxpayer dollars went into its development.

Another day down with no news, maybe 171 is our lucky day...

Meanwhile, millions in the country illegally get to stay without question...it's a lovely system we have. What is that old saying? Oh yes, "Nice guys finish last."
