I so Agree with You!!! The money Isn't the issue of who pays...it has to be done to be with the One you love..This isn't like going Dutch on a first date...hehehehe...This is your Happy Ever-After..:-)

Dutch on the first date ??? LOL that would guarantee no second date !

We split the K1 fee, the AOS and ROC fees came out of our joint account. When we were doing the K1, I paid for my medical and police check fees. I also paid for myself to fly to my interview. I don't think it should it be the burden of one person to pay all the fees.

This makes me laugh, the people who say, "well you wanted to marry a foreigner or you wanted them to come here". So are we saying that the beneficiary didn't want to come here and that we coerced them to move to the USA? Truth be told, more often than not, they have much more to benefit from in the whole thing than the US citizen.

Actually, that the beneficiary is somewhat eager to move is true for people that don't have much back home. For me, personally, it will be a huge setback, especially career-wise. I don't want to come to the US, but I have to because circumstances won't allow us to be together otherwise (also, I don't really want to get married because I don't belive in marriage, yet I will do it because it seems it is the only way for us to be a couple). And yes, we have tried to have him come to my home country, but that didn't go well, because he was on a tourist visa and was having a really difficult time finding a job.

So I wouldn't rush into thinking "everyone wants to be American". Most of us really don't.

K1 petition was approved after months of waiting... then I asked him to start collecting documents needed for the interview. Then he said,he can't do it because he has no money. I got upset because all I wanted him do for now is the Police clearance from abroad because it will take weeeeekkksss for the foreign consulate to work it out, then he said he doesn't have the money? I blatantly told him that MONEY is not the real problem but maybe he is not interested anymore or he has another relationship going on. It was just an excuse,a subtle way of telling me not to pursue what we started. I was so mad...that I am starting to feel resentment towards him. Yeah I understand he has no job but MONEY isn't a justified excuse not to ACT and at least show a little motivation to know how to obtain police certificate from a foreign consulate.

... I feel like he was just waiting for a dole out... or maybe he's not into it. People just don't realize how much effort and time one spends in preparing a K1 packet..not to mention the effort and emotion invested just to make a long distance relationship to work. maybe for some people, MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND.
