wow! I thought my wait for NOA2 for 200 days was too long! until I saw your numbers.

expect about 2 weeks to get your case number. This is based on my experience and reading vj forums.

I know but I feel blessed to have finally gotten it...I'm still checking the USCIS website to find out if the numbers close to mine are already approved but I kinda feel for them because some are still waiting for NOA2.

I didn't know waiting for a case no. could take this long. I mean when we waited for our son's case no. it was just 17 days.. Anyway I'm really thankful that my case is finally at NVC. :-)

I'd call back and ask specifically: "Is all necessary documentation received and the case complete?"

As for calling about interview dates, you can now include DOS on your calling list. Both NVC and DOS will know when an interview is scheduled.

I tried forming the question in different ways to see if anything was missing and she kept saying, all the documents received, everything is good we are now just waiting for an interview date from your embassy? And told me to wait for an email about my interview date.

And I'm sorry, I've seen you post about DOS, Department of State? Who are they exactly and what do they do and what do you actually say once you call them?

Quick question on the timeline feature. From other posts here it seems like the "packet 3" is the same as the IV packet, is that correct? Is that what's meant in the timeline here by packet 3? If so, why is it listed after case completed at NVC?

Ah - some attempt at 'normalcy' across all visa types. Most visa types have those timeticks, IMO it was a mistake causing confusion to leave them IN the CR/IR series - but DCF'd folk do have a packet 3 as well.

Yup, Packet 3 at NVC is the DS-230/IV.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this piece of info, but I know Saylin will see it here, and it's about passport photos which are part of the NVC stage, so...

We just did our POE today, and the CBP officer wasn't happy that there was stuff on the back of my husband's passport photos. There was some kind of stamp on it from the pharmacy where he had them taken, and the officer claimed he needed to write things on the back so he was considering making us leave the screening area to find another pharmacy and get new ones. He didn't actually make us, but I guess making sure to have mostly blank space on the back of your photos is a good idea as a precaution.

'In Fact' - a CBP officer does nothing with passport photos - so was there any reason they were NOT inside the VISA packet?

yes they are, as May is for next week, the NVC operator told me i can start callling the second week of May for June interview. I wi will start calling Friday May 4th. which will be next week.

Well, yeah, he opened the packet and rifled through it. That doesn't seem unusual looking at the POE reviews. The photos were inside the packet, the ones we had submitted electronically to NVC and physically at the interview. He filled out some form with my husband's name, signature, and finger print and stapled the photos to that form. *shrug*

Nothing scheduled that DoS can see yet. Geneva (the operator) still seems to think I should get packet 3. When I said "I was informed that spousal visas are not sent packet 3 by the embassy," she got kind of quiet, told me nothing's been scheduled yet, and told me to keep calling. Guess packet 3 is now code for "confused operator."

This is just my opinion, but I bet Haiti is one of the toughest Embassies to get an expedite.

Anyone got their case numbers recently? Or even had their files received at NVC? This week is our 3rd week from NOA2, and I know many who have gotten earlier approvals are still waiting for their cases to be received as well. Is it really that hard to send out a bunch of papers from USCIS to NVC?

Yes i know... we are praying for a June interview, there will be a Baby shower for our daughter June 23rd, i would not like to miss it either
