Thanks!!!!I would not say that, I think part of the reason I was able to get a May date is because they are available. If you get case closed this week you can still get a May date!!!

Hello,

I need your help. I applied for both my parents and NOA1 for each of them was received on 10/17/2011. For my mom, I received I-797 from CSC by the mail - notice date 03/30/2012. I have not received any email notification prior even though I have signed for this on USCIS site. I checked the USCIS site for the status of my mom's petition and, surprisingly, according to USCIS her case is still in initial review (even now). I also called USCIS and checked the status on both my parent's cases - according to the automated system, both cases have been approved and I-797 were sent. Then I spoke with customer service representative and I was told that my mom's case is shown approved in the system but there was not a good explanation on why I was not notified by email or on my cell phone. So I waited for my father’s approval, which was received yesterday (notice date: 04/16/2012) and today I called NVC to see if they have received the cases. The woman on the phone told me that neither case is showing yet in their system. I am more concerned with my mom’s case since it was sent to NVC at the end of March; my concern is also how it is possible to be shown still in “Initial Review” in USCIS?

I appreciate your advices!

Thanks

I just received my NOA2 on April 4th and currently waiting for a case number.

1) Should I have my beneficiary wife send me the documents now, including the DS-230? Or do I have to wait until the I-864 and DS-230 fees are paid?

2) Are the I-864 and DS-230 that are available after payment different from the ones that are currently available for download?

I just want to get things done asap. Thank you in advance.

1.) yes, have her fill everything out, sign the FIRST page, not the second one and send them ASAP to you. You only have to wait until they are PAID to send them to NVC

2.) No, they are the exact same forms. After your invoices are marked PAID you will have to print a

barcoded cover sheet to send in with your packages.

Get everything gathered and ready now, it will take you a week or so. That way once you have a number, you pay your invoices, your packages are immediately ready to send off to NVC.

I see, for me it looks like 1 way would be around $900 and round trip is around $1500.

So for me it looks like i should just get the one way for around $900 and book the return with the beneficiary after getting the visa.

I'm planning to attend my wife and step-daughter's interview in Santiago, Chile. I will buy a round-trip ticket for myself and book the return 7 days after the interview. For my wife and step-daughter I will be using my frequent flier miles to get them round-trip tickets with a return date months in the future. I know there is some risk to this because it can take longer than 7 days for the embassy to return the passports with the visa, but from the reviews i've read of that embassy they will get the visa out quickly.

Generally two one-way tickets are more expensive than a round-trip ticket. In my case one-way tickets are over $2k where a round-trip is around $1,200. The higher priced one-way ticket does have greater flexibility and can be changed without any penalties whereas the discounted round-trip ticket is non-refundable and has a $300 fee to make changes plus any difference in airfare.

I would suggest you price out both options and then find out what restrictions each option has and then make your decision from there.

I see
