I expected better from you. This was the media playing us as fools. Damn the facts because they had an agenda.

I think it very plausible despite his obvious ethnicity, Zimmerman jumped to a racial stereotype conclusion about the kid. Zimmerman failed to heed the quality advice of the 911 dispatcher, and his actions ultimately created the situation he found himself in, getting his butt whipped and being an armed pansy, resorting to deadly force.

Zimmerman who is half hispanic and half jewish profiled a black kid.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

I like to leave the race card at the bottom of the deck -- however, Zimmerman fvcked up big time. Even had the two combatants been of the same race -- this shooting was still avoidable. I agree with the rest of your assessment.

The first time I saw Zimmerman photo I got really confused why people was saying that he was white when he is clearly not white, he has all the fixtures of an Hispanic man. The thing here is his last name but as far I'm concerned he is just like many jose, juan, carlos, Garcia, Gonzales, Rodriguez that I have seen my whole life since I was born and raised in South America.

Don't get it why people keep referring to this guy as a white male when he has just Hispanic fixtures, not only his skin color but all his look is nothing but Latin, and well his mom is Peruvian which makes him Peruvian too. Being fair I would say that he is a Hispanic/Caucasian male because of his parents. It's the same if my husband and I have a son would be because my husband is Caucasian and I'm Hispanic with all Hispanic fixtures.

I'm as Hispanic as that guy is. Most people don't think I am because, like Zimmerman, I have an Anglo last name. I identify as being white. For all I know, maybe Zimmerman does too. Has anyone asked him if he's hangin' out with La Raza?

As you might know, and has been mentioned at least once in this discussion, being Hispanic does not preclude you from being white. Furthermore, there is no set of Hispanic features that one can point to and demonstrably say "that person's Hispanic." Just because you're Hispanic and I'm (well, half-) Hispanic doesn't mean that you or I are able to say definitively how Zimmerman identifies.

Hispanic - of, or relating to Spain. That coverings a lot of territory. I was born in a former Spanish colony (California) and lived here most of my life. Does that make me Hispanic as well?

Absolutely. Why not? You probably speak more Spanish than I do (which is a cringeworthy none).

I don't how he identifies himself neither I care, he may not even speak Spanish. Don't know, don't care BUT what I know is identify an Hispanic face when i see it, ok? More than 30 years surrounded by Hispanic people as myself (not half), cousins, brother, friends, ex-husband, boy friends, uncles, co-workers, bosses, neighbors, class mates. etc. I can tell you without a doubt that this guy looks just like many of those Latin males living in any city of south America. That there are Hispanic that are whites? YES, many, mainly from Spain, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, etc. But this guy isn't white at all. Could care less if he considers himself as a white male. he is not.

Correct, so he's latino. However most folks interchange the two terms.

Reported for being just out and out crass.

Also, none -- nope, not one -- of my Hispanic relatives fits that description. Even down to the "how many children" issue. Nice reductive anti-Hispanic BS there.

Thumbs up!

So my question is, if my Moroccan (half) daughter is very often perceived by Hispanic people to be Hispanic, do I get to claim that she is basically Hispanic too, whenever it suits me? Cause Hispanic people always always always know who else is Hispanic, right?

I used the term "Latino". There's a bunch of Latinos and mestizos hanging out in my kitchen right now where we're designing my half-Bolivian niece's wedding dress and they all think he looks Latino lol. But, hey, maybe his other half is Palestinian Arab Jewish Israeli.

Ok. here it's an exercise to those who think it's impossible, difficult, unimaginable to see a male from any race and maybe need to have super powers to identify him with a particular race. So here are some pics I randomly google. So please tell me you'all what race are each of those guys in the pics?
