Hi all, today I received an RFE for my AOS application. Here is what the RFE states:

Although USCIS received your vaccination record, other medical information is missing. Specifically, a review of the record indicates that you entered the United states pursuant to a valid K-1 nonimmigrant visa and all USCIS records relating to you have been reviewed, but the U.S. Department of State medical forms DS-2053, DS-3024, and DS-3026 are not in any of those records.

Therefore, a new medical form must be filled out by a civil surgeon and sent to UCSIS in order to process this case further.

Then it says:

The applicant is required to submit a new Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, that is properly completed and signed. Please note, the vaccination record has been received by USCIS; therefore, the vaccination portion of the form does not have to be completed.

Soooo ... I had my medical exam in April of last year, included my vaccination record (complete) with the DS-3025 and now I'm being asked for ... I don't even know what. I don't have to do the vaccination part again, so what exactly do I need a civil surgeon to do?

Anyone have any experience with an RFE like this?

Thanks!

Yes. Many people have gone through the same thing.

USCIS has lost your medical and are now asking you to have a COMPLETE medical done. This means seeing a CS and doing everything again. Take your shot record so you aren't given new shots but it'll mean a TB skin test etc etc.

So I get to pay for their mistake. Awesome.

Guess I'll start looking for a CS around here.

Anyone know how much this costs, approximately? I imagine it's different everywhere, but an estimation would be great.

Try for $200 or less. Sorry, it sucks. Bonus is at least the vaccine record is complete so you don't need to re-do the shots.

It really does vary. The only one within an hours drive of me charges $650 (thank goodness I didn't need to see him). Others have reported being told $800. Some are lucky and get it for $100 or thereabouts.

Have a look at this wiki: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Civil_Surgeon_List hopefully one CS in this list will be near you (these are reported by members as good CS's who don't charge the earth).

We got the same letter. So incredibly frustrating. We are finally sending in the documents tomorrow. Getting an appointment within a reasonable time frame was impossible as the doctors in Philadelphia were all 'booked.' It ended up costing us over $200 for THEIR mistake. Not a happy camper. I'm sorry others have had to go through the same.
