FORT WORTH — Police are trying to identify the man who entered the West 7th office of State Sen. Wendy Davis Tuesday afternoon and threw two firebombs just outside the door. Two staffers were in the third floor office when the attack occurred around 4 o'clock. One of them had to leap over the flames to escape, then went to the break room, grabbed an extinguisher and put out the fire.

Investigators said Sen. Davis was not in the office at the time of the incident, but was at her law office closer to downtown Fort Worth.

A staffer told News 8 the Democratic lawmaker was alerted about what happened and that security at Davis' other local office was tightened as a result.

No one was hurt, but the lawmaker's office was damaged by the fire.

A maintenance worker chased the suspect, according to witnesses.

The Fort Worth Fire Department Arson/Bomb Squad was investigating the attack and trying to identify the man behind the attack.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

FORT WORTH -- In a joint news conference Wednesday, Fort Worth police and fire investigators announced the arrest of the man accused of fire-bombing the West 7th Street office of State Senator Wendy Davis, a Democrat.

Cedric Steele, 40, is behind bars at the Fort Worth Jail. He is charged with arson and his bond is set at $50,000.

Police said they arrested Steele last night after recognizing his description when they saw him in the Camp Bowie area.

Police said they found key evidence in the building where he has been spending the nights. Police found wicks and lighter fluid believed to be what was used to make the fire-bombs thrown at Davis's office.

Steele had shown up at Senator Davis's office last Friday and this Monday, asking to see the Senator according to police. Davis was not there at the time. Police said he told staffers: "you'll be hearing about me in the news soon."

According to police, Steele showed up for a third time late yesterday and threw two firebombs at the glass doors of Davis' third floor office. The flames reached waist high. One staffer inside grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. Another staffer jumped over the flames to escape harm. Davis was not there at the time, and no one was hurt.

Today, Davis said this incident reminds her of how vulnerable her staff is while serving the public. Davis said she is working with the Department of Public Safety to make sure every possible measure is being considered to keep her staff safe.

Davis also said this incident is a reminder of how vulnerable some people can be to what's become a divisive political climate with a lot of rhetoric. At the same time, Davis said she will not back down on potentially controversial stands on things like women's health cuts and redistricting.

Police said they do not believe yesterday's fire-bombing was politically motivated. They believe it was a single act committed by mentally unstable man.

Police said this incident has prompted the department to reacquaint themselves with all office holders in the area to remind them of their vulnerability and what course of action they should take to prevent another such incident in the future.

Meanwhile, back at Davis's West 7th Street office in Fort Worth, maintenance crews got an early start making repairs up on the 3rd floor this morning.

Davis said she intends to continue business as usual there.

So maybe that is why the Senator broke off the affair with him? Attractive women demand big todgers and will not stay with men that do not have one for them. You could be right.
