Vaccinations for the Medical.

My fiance received Packet 4 today (I am so happy about that) and she has the letter to do the medical. I have two questions: 1) Does it say what vaccinations are needed on the letter? 2) Can she take this to her doctor and get them done (if there is a list)?

I have heard many different things about but I just want to be sure. She currently has a letter from her doctor stating that she has all of her shots but I am almost positive that they might have missed something. I am trying to avoid paying Consultorios de Visa all of that money for vaccinations and I also don't want them giving her vaccines that she may have had already(I am no doctor but I don't think that is safe). Any help with this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Let me see if I understand what you have written. Your fiancee has the letter. You want US to tell you what that letter says.

Huh???

Ya know, since she has the information, she can probably call the medical office herself and ask any questions. I am pretty sure that's probably be a much better resource for getting information.

When she paid her visa fee, if she needs any additional shots they will give her the shots she needs. It is already included in the cost of the medical.

Beneficiary: Plan Your Medical Exam Date

The medical exam always comes before the interview. The U.S. Embassy appoints certain accredited clinics or physicians where you may take the medical exam. Although the series of tests included in the medical exam may vary in every Consulate, there are still common denominators for them all.

Immunization

Vaccinations are also given to K1 Visa applicants. The panel physician in your clinic determines which shots you have to take. This varies with your age and vaccination history.

Right from the USCIS website

United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirements, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations:

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis B

Influenza

Influenza type b (Hib)

Measles

Meningococcal

Mumps

Pneumococcal

Pertussis

Polio

Rotavirus

Rubella

Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids

Varicella

This may be how it is for Manila, but not all consulates are the same. For example, they do not give any shots for a K-1 applicant in Mexico. Also, for countries that do offer vaccinations for K-1 applicants, the fees for the vaccinations are extra and often pricey, and not included in the cost of the medical fee. People should be careful about giving consulate specific answers as blanket facts.

OP> I do not know how the medical and vaccinations work for the Dominican Republic. You should ask about the medical and vaccinations in the regional forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/153-caribbean/

Ask specifically about the Dominican Republic in your title.

I truly appreciate this response because I wasn't sure about the others. I think that they don't charge you for the vaccinations unless you need them in DR. I will post my question in the forum you suggested for further clarification. Thanks again for the advice.

Some of them come combined into one vaccine so it may be less shots. Just thought of that.

The vaccine is optional for K-1. At the very least, bring in vaccine paperwork to medical for translation. They could then be completed in USA prior to AOS.

Unfortunately, you cannot go to your personal doctor or any other physician. Everyone applying for a visa most being examined by Consultorios de Visa physicians.

ASK THE CONSUL

I am applying for an immigrant visa and need to go for my medical examination. What should I expect at the medical examination? Can I have my personal doctor perform the medical exam?

The medical examination may not be done by your family doctor or any doctor other than the approved panel physician.

But then consultorios de visa also says this:

" Traiga consigo toda documentación relativa a su historia inmunológica (cartilla de vacunas, records médicos, etc.) para asistir en determinar su estatus inmunologico. Si tiene alguna contraindicación por condición preexistente o alergias favor traer un informe de su medico tratante. "

Got it right off the website.
