What should they include? Just that they've been witness to the both of us in our daily activities, and can attest to our relationship being true & valid? That we're disgustingly lovey dovey, even in public? Do they need to be entire pages? Or just a sentence or two? Ahhhhh!!! Help? I'm sure I'm over thinking this. lol

Thanks

Nothing, statements are not necessary and are low level secondary evidence. I never included any for any reason throughout the process, petition to citizenship. You may as well attach copies of magazine subscriptions in both names.

Why? well for one thing you are asking what they should write, so clearly you are creating this evidence yourself. Of course you are, that is what everyone does that uses these.

For the ptition you do not need ANY evidence of relationship at all. For the AOS and ROC they want to see evidience of mingled finances, joint responsibility and committment.

where have you read that they are actually needed for a K-1??

they are not needed for anything.

Actually I asked because my friend was writing it up and asked me what she should write. I thought I would ask you all, since there is such vast knowledge. It was notarized, and I actually spoke with an agent yesterday at the USCIS and he said that I can't send too much. The more I send, the better. So while it may not seem necessary, I do not want an RFE. We've been together for 3.5 years and I'm tired of waiting.

I realize I'm rather new here, but that doesn't mean you need to be patronizing towards me Gary And Alla.

Correct answers are not patronizing. You do not need them, they are not necessary so how would we be able to tell how to do something that is not needed? We do have vast knowledge, you are correct. We know they are not needed. Unlike others I provided a reason why.

Providing what is needed will prevent RFEs, providing lots of stuff that is not needed will not make up for anything which is needed. You will not get an RFE for a statement from your friends about your relationship because no such statement is necessary. In fact, no realtionship os needed for the petition. You could meet someone for the first time in your life today and file a petition tomorrow and the petition will be approved.

The USCIS officer is right in that extra stuff won't hurt anything.

But the short answer is that there is no prescribed way to do something which us not required.

I do not see how he was patronizing to you. You do not need affidavits from friends and family for the I-129F petition. What he said was correct. It is not even considered necessary for ROC in the future. People include them with their ROC when they feel their evidence is not as strong as it could be, but they are still viewed as very weak evidence and not given much weight at all.

I can understand not wanting to wait any longer. My husband and I were apart 10 years before we married. If you follow the guide here and include everything on that list, make sure everything has original signatures that should have them, make sure all the information is filled in, and all the right boxes are checked, then you will avoid an RFE. I, as well as many other people here on VJ, sent my petition with what it asks for on the guide here without any affidavits from anyone and did not receive an RFE.

It won't hurt you to send it. People were just explaining it is not actually needed.

Avoid beating yourself up -- you're far from the first and definitely not the last who has trouble reading "tone" on here. :)

Letters are indeed helpful farther along in the process (during ROC, if other evidence is thin), and between now and then if you're dealing with a ####### consulate (which yours is not) that will doubt your relationship and issue a 221g after the interview. Happily, there's a 99.44% chance that you don't need to worry about this.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
