this is how it works my gf and i just finished with the process

You must have to wait for the NVC and you will need to call them within a week after NO2 approval.

Then when they give you the case number that will start MNL xxxx

then you can go to get your medical at st lukes medical center

when they tell you that they send your case to embassy then you will make an appointment for the interview at embassy

don't wait for any paper or you can wait if you want but i did it in this way, in the paper that they send from NVC they will provide you a link that can confirm all what i said and what you will need for the interview

BY THE WAY THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR ADVICES AND HELP I FINISHED ALL THE PROCESS AND ALL THE GOOD INFORMATION IS HERE

THANKS

Hi OP, I hope you got the answer you were / are looking for, I think the answer is no, but I am sure you can try it if you like. Sometimes people deviate from the norm or the rules and they get lucky.

Also- a sidenote and unrelated to your question: you will find some people here, though helpful, not the most tactful or nice, just be aware and try not to take it too personally

Post your future questions regarding manila embassy interview on Philippine Forum next time... the process is different depends on which country/embassy your case will be handled.

however, my answer to your question is no... you cannot just bring your NOA2 approval and schedule an interview or go to the embassy for an interview.

Having said that here's what you need to do once you get your NOA2

1) A week after you call NVC with your case number...

2) You can have your medical done at St. Lukes using that case number...

3) You can pay your visa fee and you can call the embassy to schedule your interview or schedule it online... however, even if you have your manila case number already, you still cannot schedule an interview unless your file is physically present at the embassy, meaning the embassy already received the files send by the NVC... this might take a few weeks, normally around two weeks from NOA2 approval, although there was a period last year that it actually took more than 4 weeks before papers/files reached the Manila embassy...

4) Unlike other embassy, manila US embassy does not send what they call packet 3 or packet 4, you can find everything that you need in this link: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/manila/19452/public/Revised%20K1%20Instruction%20Packet%20_3__rtf2_003.pdf

Also do not forget to attend a CFO seminar, you cannot board the plane going to the US if your passport does not have a CFO stamp.

Lastly, people here are trying to help you... please be sensitive when making comments/replying.

Because only your friend and his sister know this secret and some 30,000 stupid people wait unnecessarily every year.

NO! Not only is your friend wrong what he is saying is not even possibly correct.

The "NOA2" is a letter notifying you the petition is approved. The petition then gets sent to NVC and must be approved there before being sent to the consulate. Taking an NOA2 to the consulate could not possibly serve any purpose.

I advise not getting immigration advice from this friend.

I know I am not a senior member of visa journey as many others here are. And I am sure these senior members are fluent in the process of every country. But I do have some knowledge of how it works in the Philippines.

When you get the NOA2, (And yes, it is not actually marked NOA2,It is an I-797 Notice of Action) you can email to get your Manila Case Number (refereed to as MNL). The case number is generated here in the US. I don't know why it is generated here but it is. You can get the number before the Embassy in Manila has the files. With your MNL YOU CAN start to do everything. You should put some time in your schedule for the file to get to Manila but DO NOT WAIT for the embassy to send you a notice that they have your file. It will take them 6 to 8 weeks to send you the notice. They are so slow and confused about sending the notice out that most people actually have their VISA in hand before getting the official notice from the embassy. There is nothing magical in the notice. No paper you must present later. It just tells you to go to a web site that has the instructions.

Your time line could be something like this.

Day 0 : NOA2, Email NVCInquiry@state.gov and ask for the MNL,

Hi,

Can you please send me the Manila Case Number assigned to my application?

Receipt #: (from NOA2)

Petitioner: (name)

Date of Birth:

Beneficiary:
(name)

Date of Birth:

Requester: (Yes, they want to know who is asking for the information)

Day 14 : MNL

Day 15: Pay fees, Schedule Interview for + 17 days. This gives time for files and medical exam results to get top the Manila Embassy. If you are really gutsy and a RISK TACKER you can arrange airlines now. for +37 days

Day 16: Start medical exam

Day 18: Finish medical exam, confirm with St Lukes that they will have results to embassy before interview date.

Day 32: Interview

Day 42: Visa delivered to you in the Philippines.

Day 52: On flight to the USA.

Day 60: You will get the official notice from the Manila Embassy that you can now start what you actually did 45 days ago.

Look at this logically, if you can. The embassy NEEDS your paperwork to review your files BEFORE the interview. The CO NEEDS to understand your case BEFORE your interview. And YOU NEED time to gather all YOUR paperwork to be ready for the interview. This is simply not the case of just showing up at the embassy door and saying "here I am ". Do you really think the CO is going to reply "oh, sure Jane and John, let me go back to the office and get your stuff, oh we do not have your stuff, have no idea who you are, your background, your issues, but I will just ask some questions and give you a visa"? I think whoever is feeding this information to you is way out of line. Remember the NVC only approves the petition, the embassy approves the visa.

there u go i knew it was possible to do that. now were back in business lol thanks!!!!

 LMBO  This has got to be the funniest thing ever !!!

Countless people have given you the correct answer to what you asked...but it was unfair of you to not post what you expected your acceptable answer to be. This answer that finally puts you "back in business" is great but it does not reflect your question, which was regarding the NOA2.

So although I truly believe it is a waste of time, I see a solution here. WHILE you are waiting for NVC to send you a case number, send that NOA2 to your fiance and let him try to do something countless other people have failed. And by the time he is done taking this NOA2 on a fun fieldtrip, maybe your casenumber will have arrived from NVC and you can do what the poster that put you "back in business" advised ! Hey, if anything its a great way to pass time !!! -- Wish I had thought of that when I recieved my NOA1

Honestly it may depend on the country. Years ago for Jamaica when you received the official NOA2 in the mail, you were able to take that to the Embassy in order to get a packet #3. Also once all of the documents were gathered including the medical done, you were able to walk right in for an interview you did not have to wait. Back then the process could take all but 2-3 months. Of course it has change for Jamaica now, but as stated there maybe countries that still do it.

I would caution anyone against laying out such a time frame, and for any country. I hope the OP, who will apparently believe anything told to him about the process, at least anything that agrees with how he thinks it out to go, isn't back here in due course, yelling..."It's day 42! You said that they would deliver my Visa, and it isn't here!"

OP, I've said already that you can go ahead and get your ducks lined up with the NVC number, so you are organized for when the embassy gets your paper file. I've said already that you need to be aware of some of the things that can delay you. As long as you realize it is all well and good to be proactive, be aware also that no one here can predict how your case will go.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Hhhmmmm.....maybe it is possible "ONLY" in Philippines...anyways it's hard to argue with something that I never tried. But as soon as I got my approval (NOA2) OR the MNL case #...I will give it a shot and if it work or not.(i don't care what's the result) I will let u guys know...

so STOP with the BULLYING we are not in grade school OR in high school to act very rude or impolitely here and it’s very unprofessional(you guys just showing what kind of mentality u guys have in person)…if you guys don’t like my question better yet don’t answer OR don’t even bother to read it….”CASE CLOSED”

NO one is bullying you! If you don't want a truthful answer, then don't ask the question! Did you ever stop to think, even for a second, that people who responded to your question have been members here for ages, have been through the process, and just might possibly know the right answer? That people don't agree with you, and give you answers that you do not want to hear, does not make them bullies. It makes them honest. They are trying to help you avoid getting yourself into a situation that will lead you down the wrong path.

By all means. You take your NOA2, and fly right over there with it. Attempt to gain entry and get interviewed based on that NOA2. I promise you, that will not work.

I swear to goodness, signing up to VJ ought to compel a person to tick a box that they understand that informed opinion may or may not agree with your uninformed viewpoint.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
