Received Biometrics appointment notice for I-485, still no receipt notice for I765

I just called customer service again and heard a new explanation about why my I-765 receipt number was not generated. I was told that since I submitted the application I-485 along with the applications I-131 and I-765, the EAD will be processed along with the Advance Parole and (upon approval) both should arrive together in a single combo card. I was explained that I "do not need a receipt number for the I-765".

Now, I do understand that the combo card has been in effect and is being issued to some cases that filed for the I-765 and I-313 together, but it stil does not make any sense why the I-765 application was not assigned a receipt number. I asked how I was supposed to track the progress on the I-765 application online and I was told that the I-765 will be processed with the I-131 so the I-131 should indicate the progress for I-765 as well!

I was almost prepared to wait a few days and send in the I-765 application again if a receipt number did not arrive, but now I do not feel comfortable with this new reasoning that I was offered. And this was a very different answer than the other explanations that I was offered duirng my past calls.

Not sure what this is about. I filed I-131 & I-765 and got separate texts,emails & NOA letters for each app.

So you better be sure as chat over the phone is no official USCIS statement.

I know that this is a stressful time. You have received your answer but it is not what you are hoping to hear. I do understand. My wife and I sent in her AOS packet January 9th, 2012. About three weeks later, we got the receipt for the I-485, and also recived shortly after that, a letter with the date and time to have her biometrics taken. Almost four weeks passed, and we never saw any letter/recipt showing that USCIS had received her I-765. Three days ago, my wife received her EAD card, without notice of any kind. Once again, we never heard anything. Her EAD simply arrived in the mail. I firmly believe that your case is going well. Just like Kevjil said, each form is processed by the appointed department. As a post script, we never heard anything from immigration about our change of address, but we are getting their correspondance to our correct address.

Please, have patience. If 90 days pass, or more, after your biometrics, then by all means look for a solution. The wheels of immigration move slowly, but they do move. We wish you the best.

i noticed on our stuff the people system vs computerized system did not match and were 2/3 weeks apart and some times responses were out of order in my estimation. You know they have everything a little patience at this state.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

This is incorrect. We call this line the "misinformation line." Each application gets its own receipt number.

Anyway, I would send in a new I-765 application. Send in a copy of your I-485 NOA1 so the EAD is free. You might have to go to biometrics twice. Good luck.

there is some relevance on that 'combo card' answer, but

IMO, if you have any other biometrics appointment (not for the I-485) then that's a good sign ..

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I find your response very reassuring. Great that it worked for you. In the weeks between you applied and received the EAd in the mail, did you attempt to call/email the USCIS or Lockbox services to fifure out whether the I-765 was being processed? Did you receive such mixed responses during your wait period?

@Richard-Y-Abigail

I doubt your Biometric letter was for I-485 only as it must have had 2 receipt numbers, one each for I485 & I-765

if it had the two, then your case is not same as hers.

@Sleepless in NY

like Harpa Timash wrote, I'll suggest if there's no evidence of receipt of I-765, Send another one, it wont cost anything and it might save you time.

Thank you for your suggestions everyone, I mailed out another I-765 application form.

I attached supporting copies of documents along with a copy of the receipt for I-485, a copy of the previous I-765 I sent, and a cover letter elaborating on the why I re-submitted the I-765 form. I hope and pray that this time it will get routed properly and result in the generation of a receipt number.

If I receive a NOA/receipt number for the I-765, I intend to carry it along to the I-485 Biometric appointment next week.

It'd be a good thing to call into NVC and inquire if they have any returned mail pieces on you, just to remove that from the list of suspects.

That would be a good idea, will try that too.

However during my calls earlier i asked specifically for a receipt number for the i-765, if there was indeed a letter with the receipt notice missed in the mail then i suppose that that number would show up in the system along with the other receipt numbers and my A #.

There has not been any I-765 receipt number mentioned all along which has been the main cause for concern
