Thanks for the wishes and for the info, Saylin!

I don't think Police Clearance is centralized in India :( I'll have my wife check with the local passport office.

About Passport Clearance Certificate, I had no clue. You probably saved me a month there, Saylin! Thank you again :) Where did you find that info? I don't see it on the reciprocity table page as well as Packet 3 & 4 (Mumbai Consulate). All it says is Police Clearance Certificate. (Passport Clearance might be centralized.)

Btw, does anyone know the difference between Packet 3 and Packet 4?

Thanks,

GS11

And just read the first two posts :P It'd take you quite awhile to get through all the posts in this thread laughing.gif

As for your question, it depends on how India does their police certificates. For Canada, the agencies do a country-wide search, so even if you lived in multiple provinces, you'd only need to get one PCC. If it's the same in India, then your wife would only need to get one PCC. But if they only do a city-wide search or a region-wide search, then she'd have to get multiple ones. Tell your wife to contact the place where she's going to get her PCC and ask how wide their search is (city, region, or country) and go from there. Hopefully it's country-wide so she doesn't need to get multiple ones.

Oh, and do you guys know about the passport clearance certificate you need to get as your wife is in India? It's one of those country-specific documents you need that no other country does (as far as I know).

No problem ^_^

And yeah, definitely have her check with the office to see if she'll need just one or multiple police certificates. That I unfortunately don't know about for India.

For the passport clearance, I've just seen it mentioned multiple times around here on VJ. I just checked the reciprocity page on NVC as well and it's not listed. Not sure where the official instructions are for this..

And packet 3 and 4 are for K1 visa applicants, not IR-1/CR-1 applicants. Basically, packet 3 is the combination of the AOS and IV packages we send to NVC, but they sent theirs directly to the consulate/embassy, although it's more forms, and some of them are different. Packet 4 is the interview letter. So, technically, IR-1/CR-1 applicants get this from NVC whereas K1 applicants get it directly from the consulate/embassy.

We got the email requesting payment for the IV fee... But when I go to the site to pay the option is not available... Do I need to send all the documents before I am able to pay the fee??

You can't send the IV package until the IV bill is paid. The IV bill will be invoiced soon, just keep checking the payment portal.

Hi! Newbie here. I just have a question. We already have our MNL case# and our PD is current, our case was completed on April 9, 2012, how long do we need to wait before we get an interview schedule?

Thank you in advance.

This forum is for IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants. You need to find the appropriate forum to ask that question as you're applying for a different visa. I believe it's this one based on your timeline: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/112-bringing-family-members-of-permanent-residents-to-america/

Hey Saylin, It's me again with another question for ya.... So I thought I was finished sending paperwork in but I was wrong :0/ I used the wrong affidavit of support form so I have to send them again.... But now my sister inlaws husband no longer is willing to be a sponsor. so ofcourse since he doesn't want to she can't/won't....

Now my question is..... I start a new job on the 30th. That income plus my child support puts me well over the proverty line for a household ($32,880 to be exact) Do you have ay Idea how this works with a new income and my last year income on tax return is below the required amount, but 2010 and 2009 are at and a little above the required amount.

GEEEZ.... Did any of that make sense?????

Yup that made sense ;)

So, your co-sponsor doesn't want to help anymore. Now, you'll obviously have to wait until next month to send in the correct AOS form with your new job details. You're going to need an employment letter that'll show how much you're making per year. And a pay stub or two would also be a very good idea.

Now, NVC generally looks at current income, but they do also factor in previous years. If you met poverty levels in 2009 and 2010, it'll most likely play in your favor. How low was 2011?

I knew you would make me smile today :0) (cat died yesterday so I really needed a little positive info)

Yep sponsor backing out. my last year income was 13,000 something. but both 2009 and 2010 were above the required amount.

Thanks so much for your assistance....

They may ask for you to get a co-sponsor due to 2011's low income, but I say it's worth a shot with your current income (that'll be over the poverty line).
