Hello Hello,

By using the receipt number for my I-485 (Receipt A) and I-765 (Receipt B) on the USCIS Website i get :

I-485 => Testing and Interview : we mailed you an appointment notice for an interview....hurray ???!!! Are they talking about the GC interview ???

BUT !!!

I-765 => it is still in the "Initial Review Step" ....

Waiting time for the waiting period : 8 weeks, it's been 6 weeks

Does it mean i might receive my green card before my EAD ??? is that even possible ???

If you can also give me more info about the EAD, that will be great, I have a job offer and I will be so MAD if i have to turn it down because of paper work

Thank you for you time and help

Congrats on the interview date! I was worried about that too, i got the email for interview and then just gave up hope on getting my EAD approved. It was probably less than a week later though that my EAD got approved and now I'm working already :D It took me a little over a week from the EAD approval to receive the card in the mail.

01/31/12 Received email update from USCIS saying that we've been scheduled for an interview

Of course its possible there are many people who don't get an EAD because they had an interview and were approved before the EAD was approved.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I have an interview date for 1-485 for March 13.

Still no word on my EAD.

I turned down a freelance project because i didnt have my EAD yet.

Honestly, EAD is supposed to take around 8-12 weeks.

I think the Green Card is supposed to take even longer.

If it all can be done in 12 weeks...I'll be a happy camper.

Mentally, I dont expect to start work anytime before 1st April

Yes, it is possible and happens. Sometimes the green card is approved before EAD. It is better this way for you. If your EAD was taking awhile, now you have interview set and will get approved for your green card soon. The EAD becomes null and void once you get your green card, as that, along with your SSN is all you need to work.

Hello everybody, since i have an interview date, i read something about stamping the passport and it is a proof of employment authorization....if everything goes well and smoothly, i can start working on march 20th (interview is on march 19th)...right ??!!!

In other words, i can tell my potential employer that i can start working on the 20th, right ??

Yes, if you get the stamp. It's your official proof of being an LPR until you receive the greencard. If the future employer use E-verify, you're also in the system as eligible to work from the day you're approved.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

No. Because it's not confirmed that you'll get the stamp, even if you're approved. More common lately they tell you it looks good, that they're sending the file to be reviewed by a supervisor and won't give you the stamp. So don't tell your potential employer you're legal until you are.

Hi V and T: this is an old thread, but is this still the case? Are they not giving the stamp right away these days? Thanks!

Yep. More common to not get it than it was back then. Back then it was 50/50. Now it's incredibly rare. You can try showing proof of travel but usually they'll just let you keep the AP just in case (and if you don't have one... well then it'll be interesting).
