Hi All,

We complete six months since our NOA1 in a couple of days, and my husband is looking at getting in touch with his local congressman, Ed Royce. Could you give me some input as to what needs to be mentioned in the letter to the gentleman?

Help with a Government Agency This link should help. You;ll need to fill out the privacy authorization form for them to work on your case. Just tell them your situation, case number, ect and a person from the office should contact you within a couple three weeks depending on their load. Good luck!

I contacted him a while back and never received a reply

or acknowledgement to my request. Maybe you will have

better luck than I :star:

Check out this link http://royce.house.gov/Contact/ZipCheck.htm

In order for his office to supposedly help you, they have a link

on their site where you will need to download and fill in a

Privacy Act Release Form

We're trying to get my husband back in time so he can see

his daughter graduate high school in May (She's Valedictorian

of her class). He has not seen her since she was 2 years old.

We're disappointed that we won't make it in time for her 18th

birthday.

I got a hold of my congressman about a month ago. They e-mailed CSC and told them that I had been past the normal waiting time.

CSC wrote back to my congressman saying I was still in the normal wait time, and that I should be receiving a response in 30-45 days.

I was told to write back to the congressman on the 27th, so we'll see what they tell me this time.

I kept telling my congressman that they were responsible for amplifying the voices of their constituents so that the administrative powers at CSC are aware of the incredibly ridiculous wait times. They seemed to think that there is nothing they can do to put any kind of pressure on the CSC, and instead to just "be patient" because they're probably very busy. I said anytime this sort of thing happens in a business situation, the higher ups are obligated to either raise pay or higher more employees to take care of the load - as we, the applicants, ARE indeed paying a fee for our applications to be processed. All the while they treat this entire process like they're doing us a big favor.

I wish you more luck with your congressman. And do mention that there are others out there like us!

I hope we get lucky too, but at the same time, after reading the above comments as well as other posts, am not getting my hopes up too high either. Good if we get lucky, but if not, well, continue with the wait till the "Gods" finally open their eyes and see us!

Like I tell my husband, I've told myself that until the day I actually set foot on the US soil and see my husband right in front of me, I'm gonna consider this as a long-distance relationship only. Not for lack of love for my husband, but cos that makes the distance between us slightly more easier to bear!

IMO, to start with a letter is a waste of time.

Instead, call into the various offices this fella has,

and ask for the

Immigration Liason Staffer

Then talk a bit with the ILS Human - that Human will tell yer husband exactly what they want from him.

Typically, it's :

1. Release document with his signature (usually downloadable from that Congressman's web site)

2. Casefile Bio Information

3. Casefile #

4. Relevant facts about the casefile.

The ILS Human won't actually get started with anything until #1 is in his/her hands.

Now, practice in writing 'that letter' is useful, IMO, as it gives your husband a chance to write in clear language, the details of your casefile; stuff that an ILS Human will need regardless.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Divya,

I just sent a message via his website. No response for 2 weeks.

So i sent 2nd message with the issue and said that i'm doing a follow up to my previous msg sent 2 weeks ago.

After about another week, i got reply from his secretary or assistant. They sent me a form to sign. i signed and emailed back.

They opened case with USCIS CSC and they said to wait another 30 days...and to call back if we get any progress bla bla bla

So end of this month will be the 30 days that they mentioned. I hope i get NOA2 before then.

It'll be 6 months waiting for me after a week from now. :protest::ranting::protest::ranting:

I don't know of other options to take, it seems kinda hopeless, i wouldn't know if contacting my congressman helped or not because it has already be over 6 months but i suppose i couldn't hurt so thats why i contacted. sigh.... :(

The IR-1 takes between nine months to one year to be issued, then I don't see how your congressman will be able to help you, there is a timeline and you submitted your forms just six months ago.Your time is still good.

According to the USCIS website the goal for I-130 petitions is 5-months. They are obviously taking longer than that now, possibly due to the fact that DCF is no longer offered at many consulates placing extra burden on the USCIS.

For those August filers that are worried that they are being overlooked check out the July filers forums, there are still plenty of us who are waiting too. My NOA1 date is 7/28/11 and I have yet to hear anything.

From my experience the Congressional Liason isn't much more helpful than calling USCIS yourself. As many of you know USCIS is currently stating petitions from July 12 are being processed. This processing date isn't updated very often, but unless you have an NOA1 before that date chances are they are just going to tell you to wait and check back in x number of days if you haven't heard anything yet.

In my opinion the I-130 petition process is broken. The fact that approvals from a span of over a month are coming in shows that they have no controls in place to make sure they are working petitions in the order which they were received. I know there are petitions that get treated differently due to various factors such as expedite requests or filers who would have qualified for DCF, but even beyond that it seems that some people get lucky while others get to wait.

I called USCIS on Jan 27, 2012 and they said they were filing July 12, 2011 applications.

Few days later, on VJ, I have also seen people say that they were processing other dates.

And now you are saying they are processing July 12.

So I don't think July 12 is accurate because how can it take them over 1 month to process 1 day (july 12, 12) application.

I know I know it is Black hole at USCIS ! No Reliable Concrete answers :protest::ranting::protest:

The only reason they have that date is because they can tell those who have NOA1 after that date to keep waiting. For most of January they were saying the processing date was June 15, then from one day to the next it was changed to July 12. I read on another forum that this processing date is only update once or twice a month.

Based on VJ member timelines they are clearly working on petitions with NOA1 dates after that and in some cases even August filers are getting their NOA2, but there are still July filers who haven't heard anything yet.

In an ideal world they would work petitions in the order which they were received and update the processing date every day with the latest batch that have been processed.

Don't send your congressman a letter, find their local office and go in there in person. If you write a letter, you will be lost. Go in person and ask to meet with the "Constituent Affairs Director." This is a live person whose job is to help constituents with (among other things) immigration problems. Get to know this person and create a relationship. They can help guide you through the process and can write letters for you. Your case will be flagged with a congressional interest. I am not convinced that they will speed up the process, but they can get answers and help stalled applications. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS YOU!
