I heard it's okay, might wanna search threads about that under this sub-forum. I personally would not want to risk it, even though I've heard people do just fine, for the simple fact that I don't trust people to do their jobs well. Knowing my luck, I'd probably end up at a POE where someone there does not or has never had to deal with a situation like that and sends me right back.

This is precisely my fear. An incompetent bureaucratic buffoon. Loads of them in India too, where I'd be traveling to. I'd have to show my GC upon departure.

Looks like VSC is averaging 8 months to process ROCs. So if we file this month, we're looking at getting our new green cards in November or December this year?

Wow, 8 months is a lot!

We are planning a trip to Asia and the possibility of dealing with issues due to not having my new GC worries me.

+1. Me and My wife (whose GC expires in August) are traveling to India in late Oct till Dec. I dread on the thought of dealing with Indian bureaucrats @ Int'l Airport, who don't know jack and act like masters of all!!

Also, 8 months for ROC is too much. I am going to apply 751 for my wife in mid-May. Keeping fingers crossed!

Hello all,

Guess we will be starting another journey down the USCIS path again this month. My wife’s GC expires in May so it is that time. I am starting to gather the list of required a recommended items now. Will have the priest and other member of our church do the affidavit’s for us. Hopefully it will be as straightforward as it sounds reading other months postings.

Thank you all for all the information posted so far and if I come across anything that may be helpful I will be sure to include it here as well.

Good luck to us all,

Jack & Xuan

P.S. I have seen lots about an "A-number" may be needed for identification, but not in all cases. I have never seen that for our CR-1 visa, what is and where would that be found? I was just going to use his SSN and USCIS number for identification
